Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kerry Mcpherson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jim Allen!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Franklyn Lucas and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A shot to the body from Allen misses
and Mcpherson counters with a series of strikes. Allen will be more careful next time no doubt.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Mcpherson enables Allen to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Mcpherson manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Mcpherson is wriggling around but Allen manages to pass to half guard.

Allen missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Mcpherson keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Mcpherson is staying active underneath Allen, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Allen trying to control the pace.
Mcpherson wants to improve his position but Allen is controlling well.

Mcpherson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Allen tries to pass the half guard into mount. Mcpherson knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Allen passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Mcpherson!

Allen goes for an armbar but Mcpherson turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Mcpherson.

Mcpherson throws an elbow that misses. Allen uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Mcpherson's guard. Nice move by Allen!

Mcpherson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Allen defends well.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Allen is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Allen drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Mcpherson manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Allen has Mcpherson in his guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Allen working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mcpherson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mcpherson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Mcpherson loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Allen not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mcpherson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Allen pulls Mcpherson in to control the position.
Allen utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Allen has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Mcpherson off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The fight stays on the outside here - Mcpherson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Mcpherson gets caught napping as Allen dives in and scores a takedown. Mcpherson manages to retain guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jim Allen will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Nice uppercut lands for Allen. That snapped Mcpherson's head back.
Mcpherson really is a fat lump.

Allen clinches with his opponent.

Allen is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
As Allen looks to move away, Mcpherson throws a big counter combo but Allen just gets out of the way.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Allen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mcpherson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Jim Allen has got the better of the ground game so far.

Mcpherson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Allen gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Mcpherson is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Allen presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Allen is trying to break free.
Mcpherson tries for a takedown. No joy.

Mcpherson is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Allen lands a takedown into guard.

Mcpherson manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Allen jumps into guard, dragging Mcpherson to the mat.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Allen has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mcpherson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Allen lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Mcpherson not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Allen drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Mcpherson dives on top into guard.

Mcpherson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Allen tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Allen is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Mcpherson postures up.
Mcpherson working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Mcpherson makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Mcpherson content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Allen is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Allen is breathing heavily.
Allen utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Allen pulls Mcpherson in close to prevent any damage.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Allen controls Mcpherson momentarily but Mcpherson frees himself.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Kerry Mcpherson will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Mcpherson blocks a head kick by Allen.

Allen forces Mcpherson back against the cage and clinches.
Mcpherson drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Allen gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Mcpherson.

Allen gets control of Mcpherson's arms and successfully pulls guard. Allen will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Mcpherson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Mcpherson has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Allen uses from the top position.

Mcpherson can't keep his opponent in guard - Allen advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Mcpherson wants to control but Allen is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Allen looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Allen stops Mcpherson from getting back to his feet.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Mcpherson manages to get to full guard.
Mcpherson looking for a sweep. Not yet Mcpherson, not yet.
Mcpherson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

I would just about give that final round to Jim Allen.
I think Allen has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
