Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Billy Kidman (ranked 9587 p4p, 792 weight class) and Jaren Jefferson (ranked 6978 p4p, 704 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Kidman might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to You Can Run. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Billy Kidman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jaren Jefferson!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Steve Montenegro and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jefferson gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Kidman has a couple of punches blocked by Jefferson.
Jefferson fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Jefferson has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Kidman after a bit of a struggle.
Kidman prevents Jefferson from breaking the clinch.

Kidman manages to break the clinch.

Kidman drives through and clinches with Jefferson against the cage.

Kidman drops down looking for an ankle pick but Jefferson pulls his leg out and moves away.

A looping hook to the body misses from Jefferson. Kidman does a little dance to reset his feet.
Jefferson has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.

Jefferson wants to take the fight to the mat but Kidman manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kidman tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Jefferson just stands there and leans against the cage.

Kidman breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Jefferson.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jaren Jefferson will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Kidman tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jefferson swivels and escapes.
Jefferson is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Jefferson is looking to clinch but Kidman is avoiding it.
Kidman doesn't manage to clinch there - Jefferson circles away.
Kidman dives in and grabs Jefferson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jefferson pushes down on Kidman's head and hops out.

Kidman dives in for a single leg takedown but Jefferson sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Kidman changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jefferson tries to avoid it but Kidman manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jefferson to the ground. Jefferson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Kidman looks to land a combination but Jefferson avoids it well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The fight stays on the outside here - Jefferson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Jefferson jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kidman walks away with a smile on his face. Jefferson gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Jefferson manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Jefferson pulls Kidman in close to his closed guard and prevents Kidman from doing any damage or advancing position.

Jefferson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kidman doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kidman manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Kidman in particular looking to stall.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Kidman is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Kidman is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Jefferson is defending well for now.

Well Jefferson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
