PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Panther Hurricane (ranked 8935 p4p, 556 weight class) and William Wooden (ranked 5276 p4p, 449 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Panther Hurricane !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, William Wooden!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Aleksandr Martynov and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hurricane ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Hurricane bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Wooden's head.
Hurricane throws a half hearted mid kick.
Wooden swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Wooden takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Hurricane scores with a decent looking hook.
Hurricane wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Hurricane slips a jab from Wooden.
Hurricane scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Wooden has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Hurricane tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Wooden paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Hurricane throws a looping overhand right but Wooden ducks down to avoid it.

Wooden feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Panther Hurricane seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wooden is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Hurricane .

Hurricane clobbers Wooden with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Wooden throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hurricane 's waist but Hurricane gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Wooden off to one side.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

That was a close round but I would say that Panther Hurricane will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

We've been hearing good reports from Hurricane 's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Wooden is nestled in close to Hurricane , controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Hurricane won't allow Wooden to pass to mount.
Hurricane knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Wooden on the ground.

Wooden lands a big elbow - Hurricane is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Wooden!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). William Wooden!
