Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lorell Tua (ranked 6446 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tiago Gomes Da Rocha (ranked 5926 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Lorell Tua! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Tiago Gomes Da Rocha! The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Anni Minnemäki and Marco Blurström.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Da Rocha misses with a hook. Tua fails in his attempt to clinch. Tua fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Da Rocha to the ground. Tua is now in Da Rocha's guard. Tua throws a strike but Da Rocha rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Tua trying to control the position.
Da Rocha tries to stand but Tua is controlling from the bottom. Tua wants to sweep but no luck. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Tua is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Tua is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
That's one minute gone in the round. Da Rocha wants to stand but Tua has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Da Rocha won't allow Tua to get back to his feet. Tua wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Da Rocha manages to pass to side control. Da Rocha seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Tua tries to roll over but Da Rocha keeps him under control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Da Rocha gets to his feet - back to striking we go! Tua tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Da Rocha swivels and escapes. Da Rocha throws a hook but Tua avoids it easily. Da Rocha keeps the fight on the outside. Tua sets himself, and Da Rocha steps forward looking for the clinch! Tua avoids it this time. A swing and a miss from Da Rocha. As Da Rocha looks to move away, Tua throws a big counter combo but Da Rocha just gets out of the way. Da Rocha looks to throw the jab but Tua is out of range. Da Rocha connects with the punch. Tua tries to clinch up. Tua wants to clinch letting Da Rocha counter with a right hand. Da Rocha moves into range and clinches up with Tua. A head punch blocked on the inside by Tua. Da Rocha lands with a light punch inside. Tua really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tua is trying to break the clinch but Da Rocha is controlling him. Da Rocha lands on the inside with an uppercut. Tua jumps guard but Da Rocha turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Tua jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Da Rocha walks away with a smile on his face. Tua gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lorell Tua. That's going to take a lot out of him. Da Rocha fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Tua, pushing him back against the cage. A nice left hand lands by Da Rocha.
Da Rocha misses with a short punch on the inside. Tua breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Da Rocha stuffs the takedown. Tua is breathing heavily. Da Rocha misses with a double jab.
Da Rocha with a body punch. A glancing blow. Da Rocha moves into the clinch successfully.
Da Rocha's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Tua is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Da Rocha to keep the fight standing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nice body punch from Da Rocha. Tua is trying to force a seperation but Da Rocha has the dominant position. Tua can't break the clinch.
Da Rocha throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Tuas head. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Da Rocha has a couple of punches blocked by Tua.
Da Rocha lands with a left to the head. Da Rocha keeps control of Tua as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Da Rocha lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Tua backwards. A short uppercut from Da Rocha. Da Rocha creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Tua with a big uppercut! Tua tries to clinch up but Da Rocha pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Tua to the mat! Tua covers up and Da Rocha unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Tiago Gomes Da Rocha!
