The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Basayev shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Basayev showed some decent athleticism there.
McCarthy gets back to full guard.
McCarthy has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Basayev off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Basayev will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
McCarthy is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.

McCarthy has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Basayev defend it? McCarthy steps over the head and cranks it - Basayev is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for McCarthy!
