Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jimmie Nichols (ranked 5947 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Rich (ranked 6351 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnny Rich told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Jimmie Nichols! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Johnny Rich! The judges for this bout are William Gold, Daniel Bishop and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nichols changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rich tries to avoid it but Nichols manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rich to the ground. Rich escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Rich shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Nichols is trying to defend but Rich finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Nichols trying to control from the bottom.
Nichols misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Nichols blocking the ground and pound attempt from Rich. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rich not landing any meaningful shots this time. Nichols taking some punishment here, with Rich in his half guard. Nichols is looking to control Rich's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Nichols avoid being mounted? We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nichols manages to get to full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round. Rich loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Nichols looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Nichols preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Nichols not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Nichols pulls Rich in close to prevent any damage. Rich tries to free his leg and advance position but Nichols is retaining full guard. Nichols preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Rich with a flurry of punches that miss. Nichols wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Rich scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Rich sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Nichols is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The ground and pound from Rich seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Rich misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Nichols tries to escape but Rich is in control. Nichols regains half guard. Nichols misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Nichols makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Nichols. Nichols pulls Rich in to control the position. Rich throws a big elbow that misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rich landing with the ground and pound. Nichols lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Nichols throws a big right hand that misses. Nichols controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Rich striking off his back but it's not causing Nichols any problems. Rich manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Nichols manages to get himself to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Rich loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Rich must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Rich cracks Nichols with a solid left hand. Nichols working a defensive guard here.

Nichols controlling Rich's posture. Nichols has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Rich's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Nichols is rocked! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Johnny Rich dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Rich drives through with a takedown into Nichols's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Oh Nichols is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Rich loads up on a big left hand. Nichols felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Rich looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Nichols can't hide his disappointment, as Rich celebrates the victory.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Johnny Rich!
