PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Saul Mollenhauer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Foster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Saul Mollenhauer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jake Foster!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Alan Glass and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Foster feints and as Mollenhauer raises his hands in defense, Foster changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Foster trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Mollenhauer lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Foster!

Mollenhauer is going olschool here, as he tries to force Foster to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Foster shrugs it off.

Mollenhauer jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Foster manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Mollenhauer thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Foster really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mollenhauer. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Mollenhauer is trying to maintain the position but Foster is very close to passing his half guard.
Mollenhauer is staying active underneath Foster, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Mollenhauer makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Mollenhauer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Foster loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Foster stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mollenhauer swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Mollenhauer gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Mollenhauer had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Foster is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Mollenhauer Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Foster's back instead.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Foster just trying to survive but Mollenhauer is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

Mollenhauer is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Mollenhauer looking to break Foster's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Foster remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Mollenhauer will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Foster is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Mollenhauer has his foot on Foster's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Foster works his way back into a safe position though.

Saul Mollenhauer overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Foster might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Mollenhauer kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Jake Foster showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
