Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Marek Koltun (ranked 864 p4p, 141 weight class) and Bob Goblin (ranked 2375 p4p, 345 weight class). Bob Goblin has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 15 - 4, fighting out of Helsinki, Marek Koltun!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bob Goblin!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Cecil Peabody and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Goblin fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Koltun, pushing him back against the cage.
Goblin goes for a takedown attempt but Koltun pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Goblin fails with a takedown attempt.
Goblin shoots in but no luck this time.
Marek Koltun has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bob Goblin.
Koltun connects with an inside leg kick.
Goblin thows a body kick. Koltun tries to catch it but that hurt him.

Goblin forces Koltun back against the cage and clinches.

Koltun manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Koltun manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Goblin manages to get himself to full guard.

Goblin manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Koltun blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Koltun tries to work over Goblin's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Koltun digs a right hand underneath Goblin's ribcage. Goblin let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Goblin in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Goblin is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Koltun keeping moving, preventing Goblin from controlling successfully.
Goblin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Goblin shoots in for a takedown but Koltun shows good takedown defense.
Goblin avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Koltun dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Goblin shoots in looking for a takedown. Koltun tries to sprawl out of it but Goblin keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Koltun manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Bob Goblin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Goblin shoots in but no luck this time.
Goblin gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Goblin shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Koltun sprawls well. Koltun wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Goblin gets slowly back to his feet.

Koltun controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Koltun shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Koltun was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Koltun is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Goblin defends it well.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Goblin is trying to control but can't.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Koltun fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Goblin manages to avoid it.
Goblin follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.

Koltun throws a body punch but Goblin moves out of range.

Koltun jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Goblin walks away with a smile on his face. Koltun gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Koltun swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Koltun lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Goblin shoots in but no luck this time.

Goblin closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Koltun quickly recovers to half guard.
Goblin thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Koltun is looking to improve his position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Koltun is defending against the submission attempts here by Goblin.

Goblin postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Koltun is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Goblin, into his guard.
