With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Carlton Burns!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Alyssa Summers and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burns tries to close the distance and clinch but Austin swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Burns tries for a takedown but Austin sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Nice takedown defense from Austin. No joy for Burns on that attempt.

Burns shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Burns showed some decent athleticism there.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Burns really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Austin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Austin looks to land a combination. Burns sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Carlton Burns showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Burns tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Austin paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Austin bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Austin thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Burns throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Austin with a flurry of punches that miss.
Austin postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Austin stopping the sweep attempt from Burns.
Austin postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Austin drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Austin jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Austin thumps Burns with a low kick.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Burns tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Austin looks to throw the jab but Burns is out of range.
Burns scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

Austin had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Burns is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Austin Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Burns's back instead.

Austin is not going to allow Burns to sit and survive in this position.

Burns is covering up but some of the strikes from Austin are getting through and doing damage.
Austin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Austin is hanging on to Burns's back as he tries to escape.

Austin is working hard for the rear naked choke here.

Austin looking to break Burns's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Burns remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Austin will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
