Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Isaias Espinoza!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Julio Mills Jr!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Jorge Garcia and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Espinoza rushes Mills Jr and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Mills Jr breaks from the clinch.
Espinoza shoots in but Mills Jr avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Mills Jr scores with a head kick.


It looks like Isaias Espinoza has been cut.
Mills Jr misses with a takedown attempt - Espinoza sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Mills Jr will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Mills Jr fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Espinoza to the ground. Mills Jr is now in Espinoza's guard.
Espinoza controls Mills Jr momentarily but Mills Jr frees himself.
Mills Jr wants to pass the guard but Espinoza is keeping the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mills Jr thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Mills Jr throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Espinoza works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Mills Jr trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Mills Jr controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Espinoza looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mills Jr is one step ahead there.
Mills Jr has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Espinoza is proving hard to escape from.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Mills Jr has a takedown stuffed.
Espinoza seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Isaias Espinoza has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Julio Mills Jr.

Mills Jr fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Espinoza.

Espinoza went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Espinoza tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Mills Jr manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Espinoza shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Mills Jr counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Espinoza shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mills Jr pinned against the cage. Mills Jr gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Julio Mills Jr dominated that round.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Mills Jr shoots in for a takedown but Espinoza shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Espinoza throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mills Jr's waist but Mills Jr gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Espinoza off to one side.

And Espinoza counters with a quick kick to the body but Mills Jr blocks it.
Julio Mills Jr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That was a close second round but I would say that Isaias Espinoza will probably get the nod.

Mills Jr darts in looking for a takedown but Espinoza gets double underhooks and turns Mills Jr into the cage.

As Mills Jr looks to move away, Espinoza throws a big counter combo but Mills Jr just gets out of the way.

Mills Jr has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Mills Jr takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Espinoza throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mills Jr's waist but Mills Jr gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Espinoza off to one side.

Espinoza closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Espinoza lands in his opponent's guard.

Mills Jr manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Mills Jr will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Espinoza up against the cage.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Espinoza accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Mills Jr is controlling Espinoza's posture.

Espinoza tries to clinch there but Mills Jr circles away.
Mills Jr will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Espinoza shoots in for a double leg but Mills Jr sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
The fight stays on the outside here - Espinoza looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
