Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lionel Casey! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Luis Rose! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Trevor Gratis and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rose pushes Casey up against the cage in a clinch. Casey has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Rose is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Rose has Casey pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Rose pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Casey tumbling to the mat - Rose dives into Casey's guard. Rose thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Rose working some strikes from top position. Rose throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Casey works some decent striking defense from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Casey lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Rose utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rose pulls Casey in close to prevent any damage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Casey postures up in Rose's guard and throws a big left but Rose blocks it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rose is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Rose looking for a triangle here. Casey is fighting it but it looks tight! Rose pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Casey is tapping out - this one is all over!
