PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tommy Conlon (ranked 2702 p4p, 366 weight class) and Harry Sachz (ranked 4295 p4p, 536 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tommy Conlon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Harry Sachz!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Atkins and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Sachz enables Conlon to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Sachz manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Sachz is pulling down on Conlon's head. It's preventing any offense from Conlon, at least for the moment.
Conlon working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Conlon is looking to work some ground and pound but Sachz has wrist control.
Sachz seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Conlon has gone for a leg lock! Sachz slips out almost immediately though and dives into Conlon's guard.

Conlon is looking for a triangle but Sachz pushes his legs off easily.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Sachz working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Sachz wants to control from the top but Conlon keeps moving.

Conlon working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sachz doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sachz manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Sachz is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Sachz got a little sloppy there for a moment and Conlon has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Sachz has managed to get both his arms back between Conlon's legs - danger averted.
Sachz is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Conlon is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Sachz is aware though and is defending well.

Sachz might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Conlon haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Conlon has his foot on Sachz's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sachz works his way back into a safe position though.

Sachz is working Conlon over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Sachz has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

Sachz forces his way into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sachz takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Sachz loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Conlon scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Sachz land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Sachz stands and salutes the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Harry Sachz!
