Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Augusto Carino! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, The Snake! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Daniel Cesar and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carino slips a jab and a cross from Snake.
Snake lands a nice leg kick that just misses Carino's sensitive parts. Carino gets the takedown into side control. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Carino landing a few strikes. Snake is looking to regain half guard here but Carino keeps moving and retains side control. Snake is pushing Carino's head away, looking to escape. Carino manages to hold on to the position though. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Carino trying to control the action but Snake is working from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Carino is putting a hurting on Snake here, landing some big shots from side control. Carino has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Snake is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Carino tries for a kimura but Snake is defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carino thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Carino tries to advance to mount but Snake denies him. Carino is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Snake is trying to escape and Carino transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Snake is forced to tap! Nice work there by Carino! Very nice indeed!
