PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cajones Crusher (ranked 1584 p4p, 238 weight class) and Chris Steve (ranked 1016 p4p, 156 weight class). Steve is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Justin Bieber ft. Ariana Grande - Let Me Think Bout You. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cajones Crusher!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chris Steve!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Aleksandr Martynov and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crusher swings for the body but Steve moves out of range.
Crusher looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Steve throws a good cross that connects.
Steve's coach down at 3Band MMA ($500/week) was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Steve's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Steve throws a lazy right hand but Crusher sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
A punch combination from Crusher misses.
Steve lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Crusher uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.


It looks like Chris Steve has been cut.
Crusher jabbing away but nothing is landing.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Steve! But no joy.

Steve clinches up with Crusher and pushes him back against the cage.

Crusher pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Crusher misses with a straight left.
Crusher jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Steve misses the shot to the body.
Steve displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Crusher throws out the jab.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Steve connects with a crisp jab.

Steve rushes Crusher and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Crusher lands a left hand.
Crusher misses with the head strike.
Steve misses with a hook to the ribs.
Crusher lands a body punch.

Crusher breaks from the clinch.

Steve is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Crusher uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Steve.

Crusher catches Steve with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Crusher takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Steve ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
A little jabbing left from Steve on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Crusher uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Steve.
A counter left hand to the body from Crusher misses its target.
Steve ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Crusher moves away.
Steve throws a jab but it's blocked by Crusher.
Steve throws a hook but Crusher avoids it easily.
The fighters circling - Crusher throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Crusher swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Steve is looking to clinch.
Crusher throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Steve scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Steve lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Crusher takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Steve throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Steve swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Steve tries to clinch there but Crusher circles away.

Steve takes the fight into the clinch.
Steve works on Crusher's body with a couple of short punches.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Steve is looking to take this one to the mat.

Crusher pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Crusher is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Crusher is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Steve.
Steve now looks to counter with a shot at the body.

Crusher takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Steve has closed the distance and engaged Crusher in a clinch.
Crusher wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Steve lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Crusher manages to break the clinch.
Crusher misses with a left hand
and Steve counters with a straight right hand.

Steve has Crusher up against the cage in a clinch.
Steve has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Crusher is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Steve lands a left hand that snaps the head of Crusher backwards.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Crusher.
Steve doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Steve scores with an uppercut up the middle.

Crusher manages to break the clinch.
Steve misses with a hook. Crusher ducked under it nicely.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Crusher throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Crusher swats away the attempt to clinch by Steve.
Steve tries to clinch there but Crusher circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Cajones Crusher will probably get the nod.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Steve throws a shot from downtown. Crusher moves away and avoids it.
Crusher misses the jab.
Steve misses with a hook.
Steve steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Crusher.

Steve throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Steve gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Crusher lands a body shot.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Steve.

Crusher pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Steve throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Crusher sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Crusher changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Steve misses with a few strikes there.
Steve looks to land a left hand but Crusher moved out of range nicely.
Steve throws a right and a left that Crusher avoids nicely.

Steve takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Cajones Crusher is winning the standup battle so far.
Steve ducks under a wild hook from Crusher.
Steve ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Steve's corner calls for a 1-2. Steve obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
A big right from Steve misses.
Crusher takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Steve lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Steve slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.


Crusher is rocked!
Steve scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Crusher doesn't seem bothered though.
Crusher missing with a left hand there. Steve was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Crusher misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Steve.
Steve lunges at Crusher with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Crusher's hand.
Oh Crusher is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Steve finds Crusher's off switch, with a big overhand right that connects perfectly to the side of the head! Crusher flops back against the cage, eyes gazing into the distance. Steve lands an unnecessary shot before the referee has time to step in and end the fight. Brutal stuff but I'm sure Crusher will be OK.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Chris Steve!
A relieved looking Chris Steve thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
