Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Smith (ranked 1302 p4p, 41 weight class) and Hello Bay (ranked 2415 p4p, 81 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, John Smith! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hello Bay! The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Daniel Blasius and Patrick Alders.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bay looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Smith is fending him off so far but Bay persists. Nope, Smith circles away and we're back to standing.
Bay gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Bay lands a right hand that snaps the head of Smith backwards.
Bay pulls guard effortlessly. Smith tries to stand but Bay is controlling from the bottom. Smith working some strikes from top position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bay is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Smith is controlling him.
Smith gets to his feet - Bay follows without any prompting.
 That's one minute gone in the round.
Bay clinches up with Smith and pushes him back against the cage. Bay tries to pull guard but Smith holds him up against the cage and eventually Bay drops back down to his feet.
Bay has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Smith uses from the top position. Smith passes Bay's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Smith is looking to pass Bay's guard but actually Bay recovers to full guard. Smith prevents Bay from getting back to his feet.
Bay pushes Smith off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Bay eats them both and turns towards Smith to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

It looks like Hello Bay has been cut. Smith misses with a double jab.
Bay closes the distance and pushes Smith back into the cage. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Bay is trying to pull guard but Smith has him pressed against the cage. John Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hello Bay. Smith tries to break the clinch but Bay is controlling the position.
Smith breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Smith jabs at Bay's body. Smith looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Smith ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Smith looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Smith dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Bay. That did some damage! Smith throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Smith throws a body kick that misses. Smith lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Smith. Smith scores with a body shot.
A nice leg kick lands there from Smith. Smith dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Bay. That did some damage!
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Bay avoids the head kick by Smith.
Smith lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Smith lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Smith misses with a body shot.
We've been told by Smith's head coaches at Killer Instinct ☠ that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Bay rushes Smith and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Bay jumps guard.
Smith prevents Bay from getting back to his feet. Smith slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bay has his feet on Smith's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Bay misses with a hook. Bay dives in and grabs Smith's left leg, looking for a takedown. Smith pushes down on Bay's head and hops out. Bay has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Smith lands with a slapping head kick. Bay tries to close the distance and clinch but Smith swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Smith is looking for a counter combo. John Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Smith lands a big head kick that sends Bay tumbling to the mat! Smith takes a step backwards and waves Bay back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Bay is rocked! Smith steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Bay. Bay is still on wobbly legs! Can Smith finish him? Smith misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Smith looks for a left high kick but can't connect. Smith backs up to catch a breather... no he lunges forward with a huge flying knee that smacks Bay's temple! It sends Bay violently to the canvas! The crowd goes nuts as Smith celebrates and the doctors try to help Bay!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Flying Knee). John Smith! In his post fight interview, John Smith started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
