PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Raquel Juarez (ranked 5717 p4p, 626 weight class) and Craig Patton (ranked 4775 p4p, 558 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Patton's choice of entrance music: Heart of a Champion - Nelly. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Raquel Juarez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Craig Patton!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Jeff Smith and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Juarez shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Patton is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Patton working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Juarez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Juarez manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Craig Patton showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Patton fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Juarez is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Patton is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Patton ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Patton no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

And Patton responds with a good body kick, but Juarez manages to step out the way in time.

Well Patton has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
