29 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Henry! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Yves DeLean and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Henry drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Henry keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Hoshino. Hoshino uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Henry. Hoshino fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Henry manages to avoid it. Hoshino slips a jab from Henry. Hoshino lands with a hook. Henry tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Hoshino throws out a loose jab but Henry uses good head movement to avoid it. Hoshino scores with a hook. Henry steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Hoshino. Henry drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Hoshino defends it well. Henry defending well as Hoshino loads up on a big left hand. Hoshino throws a looping overhand right but Henry ducks down to avoid it. The fighters circle momentarily. Henry darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Hoshino throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Henry lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

We've been informed that Henry has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Henry fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. An attempted straight right counter from Hoshino misses the target. Henry lands with a nice body punch. Henry throws a hook but Hoshino blocks it. Hoshino definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Henry fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Hoshino on the side of the head. Henry blocks a jab. Henry darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Henry connects with a single shot there. Hoshino misses with a looping right. Hoshino throws the left hand but Henry avoids the punch easily. Hoshino jabbing away but nothing is landing. Henry might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Henry lands a slapping body shot.

Henry lands with an uppercut that bounces Hoshino off the cage and back into range. A looping hook to the body misses from Henry. Hoshino does a little dance to reset his feet. Henry staying out of range there. Hoshino jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.

Kantaro Hoshino seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hoshino takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Henry looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Henry misses the shot to the body. Henry ducks down and throws a hook to the body. This has been an exciting period of action! A swing and a miss from Hoshino. Hoshino just misses with a punch to the body.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Hoshino keeping moving, preventing Henry from controlling successfully. Henry must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Henry is looking to work some ground and pound but Hoshino has wrist control. Henry throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hoshino works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Henry showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Henry throws an elbow that misses. Hoshino uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Henry's guard. Nice move by Hoshino!
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Hoshino looking to control the position here, rather than advance. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but John Henry will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Henry sizes up Hoshino with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Henry has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. A big right from Hoshino misses. Hoshino gets caught napping as Henry dives in and scores a takedown. Hoshino manages to retain guard. Hoshino controls Henry momentarily but Henry frees himself. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kantaro Hoshino is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. A decent looking cross lands there for Henry. Henry shoots in for a takedown but Hoshino shows good takedown defense. Hoshino takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! A wild punch that just about connected. Henry with a jab. A big left from Henry misses. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Henry keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Hoshino. No luck with that takedown attempt from Henry. Henry avoids the body shot from Hoshino.

Hoshino takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Hoshino uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Henry. It looked like Hoshino wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Hoshino scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Hoshino displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Henry throws out the jab. Henry shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Henry connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Hoshino some visible discomfort.

Henry throws a strike aimed at the side of Hoshino's head but Hoshino avoids it well. Hoshino is letting Henry control him for a moment. Kantaro Hoshino has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Henry throwing strikes but Hoshino manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control! Hoshino tries to advance to mount but can't. Henry is looking to reverse the position. Henry wants to get back to his feet but Hoshino is dominant here and he's now got Henry's back! Henry is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Hoshino off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted. Henry wants to get back to his feet. Hoshino working for a choke but Henry reverses nicely into Hoshino 's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Henry is pushing down on Hoshino's leg trying to pass to half guard. Hoshino is fighting to maintain full guard but Henry has managed to sneak the leg through. Henry is looking to take a break and control but Hoshino is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. John Henry is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Henry sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Hoshino defending well though. Henry is nestled in close to Hoshino, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Well, if Henry is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
And that's the end of the fight! John Henry comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Henry has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
