7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Eulogy Spoakin! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, William Smith! The judges for this bout are , and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Spoakin pivots, looking for a leg kick but Smith is out of range and Spoakin settles back down. Spoakin feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Smith's calf. Spoakin tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Smith swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Smith shoots in but Spoakin avoids the takedown attempt easily. Spoakin tries to clinch up but Smith circles away and keeps his distance. Spoakin gets caught flat footed, as Smith shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Smith stopping the sweep attempt from Spoakin. Spoakin is trying to keep Smith in close.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Smith wants to control from the top but Spoakin keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Spoakin keeping full guard, as Smith tries to pass. Spoakin bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Smith's guard. Smith trying to control the position.
Spoakin stopping the sweep attempt from Smith. Smith is looking to sweep but instead, Spoakin has passed into half guard.
Smith is trying to maintain the position but Spoakin is very close to passing his half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Spoakin controlling the action here. Smith trying to control but Spoakin postures up.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Spoakin keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Smith. Spoakin swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. No joy there for Spoakin, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Eulogy Spoakin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Smith drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
It looks like William Smith has been cut.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Spoakin steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Smith. Spoakin tries to land a leg kick but Smith saw it coming and moves away.
Spoakin throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
No luck for Smith with that takedown attempt. Spoakin misses with a wild combination.
Smith shoots in for a double leg but Spoakin sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Eulogy Spoakin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of William Smith. Spoakin tries to land a leg kick but Smith saw it coming and moves away.
Spoakin lands with a straight right. Smith didn't see that one coming. Smith looks gassed!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Spoakin throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Jab by Spoakin. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! A swing and a miss from Spoakin. Spoakin lands a glancing blow to the side of Smith's head. Spoakin just misses with a punch to the body.
No luck for Smith with that takedown attempt. Spoakin throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Spoakin lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Smith walks into a stiff left hand from Spoakin. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Eulogy Spoakin dominated that round. The cut man is working on William Smith's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Spoakin moves into range and throws a big uppercut. OH! Smith goes down! Can Spoakin finish him!?
Smith is rocked! Spoakin forces his way into half guard. Spoakin controlling the action here. Smith is looking to control Spoakin's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Smith avoid being mounted? The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Spoakin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Smith keeps working. Smith desperately trying to maintain half guard. Smith is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Spoakin is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Spoakin's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Smith keeping moving, preventing Spoakin from controlling successfully. Spoakin thows a big elbow that misses. Spoakin connects with a couple of short punches. Spoakin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Smith swivels though and keeps the full guard. Spoakin is working hard here to advance position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Spoakin slips nicely into half guard. Spoakin keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Smith is doing well to control the position and prevent Spoakin from advancing to side control. Spoakin is keen to just control but Smith is a slippery customer. Smith keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Smith can do anything to dispel that myth. Spoakin winds up and cracks Smith with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Smith wants to get back to full guard but Spoakin has passed into side control. Spoakin can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Smith is looking to escape.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Spoakin controlling from the full mount. Spoakin wants to control the pace but Smith is squirming around nicely. Smith tries to get back to half guard but can't. Spoakin looking to finish Smith with some ground and pound. This is bad for Smith!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Smith tries to hold on but Spoakin postures up. Spoakin is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Smith can do to turn this around? The referee warns Smith that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Spoakin lands a nice shot to the head. Spoakin is in the full mount, landing strikes. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Smith can't escape the position.
Smith wants to control but Spoakin is having none of it. Spoakin with a couple of short strikes. Spoakin landing strikes, looking to finish! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Spoakin landing strikes, looking to finish! Smith really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Smith tries to hold on but Spoakin pushes him away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Eulogy Spoakin dominated that second round. The cut man is working on William Smith's cut. That's time! Back to the action!
Spoakin ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Eulogy Spoakin is winning the standup battle so far. Spoakin tries to score with a low kick but Smith moves his leg out of the way. Spoakin thuds his right hand into Smith's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Eulogy Spoakin is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Smith is wiping some vaseline out of his eye. Spoakin doesn't give a rats ass about fair play and cracks him with a massive hook to the side of the head! Smith crumples to the floor out cold! The cornerman is going to be in Smith's bad books for that mishap!
