Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Columbo Gatti and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gashi fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

and Martinez counters by clinching up.
Gashi jumps guard but Martinez turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Stefan Gashi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gashi is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Martinez to keep the fight standing.
Martinez unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Martinez throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Gashi jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Martinez walks away with a smile on his face. Gashi gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Martinez's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Martinez duly obliges.
It looks like Stefan Gashi has been cut.
Martinez lands a glancing blow to the side of Gashi's head.
Martinez moves into range and clinches up with Gashi.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Gashi drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Martinez gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Martinez is figuring out what he wants to do next.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Martinez looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Gashi with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Gashi tries to roll over but Martinez keeps him under control.
Martinez is taking a breather. Gashi says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Martinez connects with a nice short shot to Gashi's temple.

Gashi has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Martinez. Oh but Gashi has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Martinez goes limp - he's gone! Gashi jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
