Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mario Jose Binay (ranked 4280 p4p, 0 weight class) and Erik Hiller (ranked 6761 p4p, 0 weight class). Hiller has chosen Rush and Run - Shake and Jump as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
27 - 21 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mario Jose Binay! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Erik Hiller! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, George Francis and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Binay just misses with a punch to the body.
Hiller shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Binay sprawls well. Binay wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hiller gets slowly back to his feet. Hiller bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Binay tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hiller was well out of range. Poor timing from Binay. Binay tries to score with a low kick but Hiller moves his leg out of the way. Binay throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Binay. Hiller shrugs it off though. Binay cracks Hiller with a right hand to the side of the head. Binay connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Hiller momentarily.
Binay connects with a high kick. Binay throws a lazy head kick and Hiller counters with a one-two to the body. Binay misses with a two punch combination.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Hiller misses with the combination.
Binay swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Hiller darts in and clinches Binay up against the cage. Binay tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Hiller avoids it. Hiller misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Binay.
Hiller jumps guard and drags Binay to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Hiller trying to control the position here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hiller manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Binay manages to get himself to full guard.
Hiller postures up in Binay's guard and throws a big left but Binay blocks it. Hiller stops Binay from standing up. Hiller wants to pass the guard but Binay is keeping the position. Hiller is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Hiller passes easily into side control. Nice work. Binay wants to get back to his feet. Hiller connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Binay some visible discomfort.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hiller scoring with punches from side control. Binay parries the strikes from Hiller easily there. Hiller is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Binay to escape.
Binay is not content to let Hiller control the position. Hiller working the ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hiller lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Hiller tries for a kimura but Binay is defending well. Binay pushes Hiller away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Hiller gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Binay is not content to let Hiller control the position. Hiller working the body and head with strikes. Hiller wants to lay and pray for a moment but Binay keeps working.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hiller decides to stand back up. Hiller steps back and let's Binay get back to his feet. Hiller throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Binay tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Hiller is in Binay's guard. Binay has his feet on Hiller's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. Binay connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Hiller's hands. Hiller fails with an attempt to clinch.
Binay takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Binay misses with a leg kick. Binay misses with a body punch
and Hiller counters with a lovely straight right hand! Hiller moves in looking to clinch but Binay pushes him off. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Hiller pushes Binay up against the cage in a clinch. Hiller pulls guard. Hiller lands a couple of decent looking body shots there.
Hiller manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Hiller tries to score a power double leg takedown but Binay sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hiller somewhat.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hiller throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Binay's waist but Binay gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hiller off to one side. Mario Jose Binay has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Erik Hiller. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Hiller. Binay throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Binay looks to score with a jab to the body but Hiller is just out of range. Binay throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Hiller counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Binay manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Binay scores with a crisp jab that stopped Hiller in his tracks. Hiller lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Hiller slips a jab from Binay. Binay looks to land a body kick but Hiller moved away. Binay looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Hiller shoots in but Binay avoids the takedown attempt easily. Binay misses with a looping right. Hiller appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Erik Hiller will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!
Hiller tries to close the distance and clinch up but Binay swats him away and circles back towards the center. Hiller is looking to slow Binay down with leg kicks. Binay throws a head kick that misses. Hiller drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Binay defends it well. Hiller misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Hiller explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. Binay displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hiller. Hiller looks to land a combination but Binay avoids it well. Erik Hiller is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Binay scores with a hook. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Decent striking displayed by Binay there. Hiller closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Hiller tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Binay just stands there and leans against the cage. Mario Jose Binay has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Erik Hiller. Hiller has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Binay uses from the top position. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Binay forces his way into half guard. Binay stalling away here and it's allowed Hiller to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hiller seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Binay wants to control from the top but Hiller keeps moving. Binay wants to pass the guard but Hiller is keeping the position. Hiller is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Binay defends well. Hiller looking for a sweep. Not yet Hiller, not yet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Binay looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Hiller trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Binay sitting in guard here, content to control. Binay passes Hiller's left leg - he's now in half guard. Binay trying to control from half guard but Hiller is working away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hiller gets full guard. Binay wants to control from the top but Hiller keeps moving. Hiller has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Binay can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Hiller has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Hiller throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Hiller keeping moving, preventing Binay from controlling successfully. Binay sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Hiller's guard. Binay seems to be working for a kimura but Hiller defends the submission attempt. Hiller looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hiller is staying active underneath Binay, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Erik Hiller has got the better of the ground game so far. Hiller pushes Binay off and gets back to his feet. Hiller takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

It looks like Mario Jose Binay has been cut. Hiller gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Hiller tries to pull guard but Binay holds him up against the cage and eventually Hiller drops back down to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Hiller presses Binay against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot. Binay tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

Erik Hiller showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Mario Jose Binay's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Despite the aggression on Hiller's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. Binay's corner calls for a 1-2. Binay obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Binay lands a lovely overhand right. Hiller tries to clinch up but Binay circles away and keeps his distance. Binay looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger. Hiller drives through with a takedown into guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Binay keeping full guard, as Hiller tries to pass. Hiller wants to control from the top but Binay keeps moving. Hiller advances position into side control! Hiller decides to stand up, so the ref orders Binay to his feet. Mario Jose Binay has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Binay manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Hiller tries to clinch but Binay is having none of it. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Hiller drives through with a takedown into Binay's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Binay is looking to stand back up but Hiller counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Binay. Hiller trying to pass the guard but Binay defending well. Hiller decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. Hiller darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Hiller trying to pass the guard but Binay defending well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Binay is looking to escape. Hiller passes to side control. Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground! Hiller is looking to take a break and control but Binay is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Binay throwing some weak shots from the bottom that do no damage.
Hiller tries for a kimura but Binay is defending well. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Binay tries to strike but it doesn't land.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mario Jose Binay. I think Hiller has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
