Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Randy Dunlap! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Randy Perkins! The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Daniel Cesar and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dunlap clinches with his opponent.
Perkins pulls guard successfully.
Perkins tries to land a sweep but no joy. Perkins looking for a guillotine here but Dunlap defends easily.
Perkins wants to stand and escape but Dunlap is having none of it. Dunlap wants to stand but Perkins has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Perkins has Dunlap pulled in close to control his posture. Dunlap really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Perkins working for submissions but it's allowed Dunlap to get to half guard.
Dunlap throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dunlap thows a huge punch but Perkins dodges it nicely.
Perkins has hold of Dunlap's hands but Dunlap slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Perkins gets back to full guard.
Dunlap content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Dunlap landing some decent shots from guard. Perkins is adopting a defensive guard. Dunlap in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Dunlap stands and steps away. Perkins gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Perkins moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Dunlap gets a clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dunlap escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Dunlap rushes Perkins and presses him up against the cage. Perkins manages to break the clinch.
Dunlap shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Perkins sprawls well. Perkins wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Dunlap gets slowly back to his feet. Dunlap gets caught napping as Perkins dives in and scores a takedown. Dunlap manages to retain guard. Dunlap wriggles free and stands up. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Dunlap checks a low kick from Perkins. Perkins just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromDunlap.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Perkins shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Perkins throws a big right hand that misses. Perkins controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Dunlap is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Perkins tries to free his leg and advance position but Dunlap is retaining full guard. Perkins controls from within his opponent's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dunlap trying to control the position here.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Perkins drops Dunlap with a beautiful combination! Dunlap stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Perkins is looking for the KO!
Dunlap is rocked!
It looks like Randy Dunlap has been cut. Perkins closes the distance looking for a takedown. Dunlap stuffs it but Perkins still has hold of him. Perkins picks Dunlap up in a fireman's lift! The crowd roars in approval. Perkins slams Dunlap to the floor and that's really hurt Dunlap - he doesn't know where he is! Perkins throws a couple of strikes and the referee steps in to save him! This one is in the books!
