Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chris Silverman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Akira Inoki! The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Inoki tries to clinch up. Silverman throws a body kick that misses. Silverman lands a high kick!
Silverman shoots in and drives through. Inoki sprawls well. Inoki shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Silverman counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Silverman. Inoki wants the takedown. Silverman is fighting it off but Inoki persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Silverman's guard against the cage. Inoki avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's one minute gone in the round. Inoki working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Silverman's head. Inoki working some strikes from top position. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Silverman is on top in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Silverman won't allow Inoki to sweep him here. Inoki really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Silverman. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Silverman tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Inoki shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Silverman counters by clinching up.

Inoki shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Silverman shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Inoki but Inoki pushes him off and we're back to square one. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Inoki can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Inoki connects with a couple of short punches. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Silverman looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Silverman is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Inoki is surviving well by controlling Silverman's body position as best he can. Silverman avoids the attempt from Inoki to control. Silverman jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Inoki manages to avoid the submission attempt. Silverman thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Silverman trying to control the action but Inoki is working from the bottom. Silverman wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Inoki, who protects the arm well. Inoki is looking to reverse the position. Akira Inoki has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Silverman working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
