Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bishop Taylor (ranked 9995 p4p, 0 weight class) and Danny Charles (ranked 18506 p4p, 0 weight class). Danny Charles is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bishop Taylor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Danny Charles!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Taylor keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Taylor tries to counter with a takedown but Charles is quick to defend against it.
Taylor keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Taylor changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Charles.
Taylor really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Charles shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Taylor wants to stand back up but Charles manages to pass into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Charles fails to land a wild elbow strike.

Taylor is pushing Charles's head away, looking to escape. Charles manages to hold on to the position though.
Charles moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Charles sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Taylor is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Charles lands a nice forearm strike.
Taylor is trying to control Charles's posture but Charles avoids it.
We've been hearing good reports from Taylor's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Charles content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Charles is looking to take a break and control but Taylor is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Charles tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Taylor takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Taylor can't do much from the bottom here.
Charles in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

Charles takes a little break here. Taylor wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Taylor is looking for a sweep.
Taylor is not content to let Charles control the position.

Charles tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Taylor tries to escape but Charles is in control.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Charles throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Charles trying to control the action but Taylor is working from the bottom.
Charles lands a few punches from side control.
Charles working the ground and pound.

Charles tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Charles has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Taylor is looking to regain half guard here but Charles keeps moving and retains side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Danny Charles dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Charles jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Taylor tries to counter with a takedown but Charles is quick to defend against it.
Charles throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Danny Charles seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice uppercut lands for Charles. That snapped Taylor's head back.
Charles misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Taylor changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Charles shoots in for a double leg but Taylor sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Charles lands a body shot.

Charles changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Taylor looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Charles tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Charles has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Taylor takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Charles misses with the ground and pound.
Charles happy to just control the position for now.
Taylor is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Charles asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Taylor knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Charles on the ground.
Taylor is looking for a sweep.

Charles is trying to get an arm triangle but Taylor is defending well.
Charles lands some shots froms side control.

Taylor is looking for a sweep.

Charles misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

Charles tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Taylor on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Taylor tries to get out of the position.
Charles lands a nice forearm strike.
My spies in 3Band MMA ($500/week) inform me that Charles has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Charles remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Charles thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Charles looks up at the clock and then as Taylor takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Charles smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Charles remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Charles is continuing to stall.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Taylor is not content to let Charles control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Danny Charles showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Charles dives in and scores a takedown into Taylor's guard.
Taylor wants to get back to his feet but Charles is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Charles throws a big right hand that misses.
Charles postures up in Taylor's guard and throws a big left but Taylor blocks it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Charles slips nicely into half guard.
Charles throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Taylor to regain full guard.
Taylor being controlled here, momentarily.
Taylor will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Taylor is looking to stand up but Charles isn't so interested in that idea.
Charles is working Taylor over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Charles looking to sit in guard and control but Taylor gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Charles is pulling down on Taylor's head to control his posture.

Charles working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Taylor doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Taylor manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Taylor got a little sloppy there for a moment and Charles has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Taylor has managed to get both his arms back between Charles's legs - danger averted.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Charles looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Charles is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Taylor's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Charles working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Taylor doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Charles is tightening it up a little... Taylor has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Taylor reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Taylor taps out! Nice BJJ there by Charles!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Danny Charles!
