Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Henry Hughes (ranked 8299 p4p, 0 weight class) and Trey Rainey (ranked 6277 p4p, 686 weight class). Rainey comes into a darkened arena with his song building. let the bodies hit the floor kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Henry Hughes has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Henry Hughes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Trey Rainey! The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Santiago Holmes and Peter Branson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A head kick by Rainey misses and Hughes counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Hughes shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Rainey sprawls well. Rainey wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hughes gets slowly back to his feet. Rainey will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Hughes checks the leg kick. Rainey fails with a takedown attempt. Rainey misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Hughes.
Rainey tries to clinch up but Hughes circles away and keeps his distance. Hughes clinches up with Rainey and pushes him back against the cage. Rainey has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Hughes after a bit of a struggle. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rainey breaks from the clinch.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Rainey throws a sloppy head kick and Hughes counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Hughes will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Nice body kick from Hughes. A left lands for Hughes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rainey lands a really nice looking cross but Hughes seems unphased.
Rainey misses with a left hand and Hughes counters with a lovely straight right hand! The fight stays on the outside here - Rainey looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Hughes on the wrong end of a nice jab. Hughes manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Rainey on his heels. He'll look to pass Rainey's guard now, I'm sure. Hughes trying to control the position from guard on top but Rainey is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Hughes with a flurry of punches that miss. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Rainey is on top in guard.
Hughes wants to stand but Rainey is controlling the position. Hughes throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hughes preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Rainey content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Hughes tries to land a sweep but no joy. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Hughes utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Rainey lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Rainey trying to control the position from guard on top but Hughes is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hughes is on top in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rainey pushes Hughes off and scrambles back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rainey tries to keep at a distance but Hughes has taken the fight into the clinch. Rainey wants to break free but Hughes has control.
Rainey pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Hughes throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Rainey stalks Hughes and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Hughes's face. Hughes staggers backwards, shaken. Rainey tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hughes paws at him with a jab and circles away. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hughes is defended easily by Rainey. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Henry Hughes. That's going to take a lot out of him. A combination from Rainey does no damage. Rainey shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Hughes defends it nicely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hughes takes the fight into the clinch. Rainey decides to pull guard. Rainey is pulling down on Hughes's head to control his posture. Rainey keeping moving, preventing Hughes from controlling successfully. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Rainey working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Hughes. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Trey Rainey will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Rainey ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hughes moves away. Rainey misses with an attempted mid kick.
Nice sprawl there from Rainey as Hughes shoots in. Rainey takes one to the side of the head.
Rainey walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Rainey lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Rainey lands with a hook. Hughes tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. A slow jab from Rainey misses its intended target. Nice defenses there by Hughes. Hughes looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Hughes's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Rainey connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Hughes scrambles back to his feet. Hughes fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Rainey, pushing him back against the cage. Hughes stalling against the cage.
Hughes is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Rainey to keep the fight standing. Rainey jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hughes walks away with a smile on his face. Rainey gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hughes turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Rainey tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Hughes manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Rainey lands with an overhand left. Hughes throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Trey Rainey seems to be getting the better of the standup. Rainey throws a right hand that Hughes ducks under and follows up with a left that Hughes also avoids with ease. Hughes uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Rainey. Hughes darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Rainey manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Hughes keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Rainey has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Hughes is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Hughes prevents Rainey from breaking the clinch. Rainey is trying to force a seperation but Hughes has the dominant position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hughes tries to pull guard but Rainey won't allow it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Henry Hughes. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rainey is working for takedown but Hughes is calmly controlling the position for now. Rainey is breathing heavily. Rainey wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Hughes wants a takedown.

Hughes escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

and Hughes counters with a series of strikes. Rainey will be more careful next time no doubt. Rainey lands a two punch combo.
Hughes bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Hughes is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Rainey knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Hughes in side control lands a decent elbow.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rainey tries to buck Hughes off but Hughes is having none of it. Hughes thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Hughes creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Rainey sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Hughes tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Hughes postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Hughes has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Rainey managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Hughes.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Hughes stands up and we're back to a striking position. Trey Rainey seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Rainey fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hughes manages to avoid it. Hughes scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Rainey keeps the fight on the outside. Rainey cracks Hughes with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Rainey throws a hook but Hughes blocks it. Hughes misses with a wild combination.
Hughes avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Hughes instigates a clinch. Rainey wants a takedown but no success here.
Rainey's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Rainey swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Hughes counters with a left and a right that stings Rainey. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Henry Hughes will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Rainey stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Rainey wants it to stay on the feet. Good leg kick by Rainey there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Rainey tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time. Rainey fails with the takedown. Rainey fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Rainey avoids the body shot from Hughes.

Hughes is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Rainey has managed to free his arm - good work. Hughes takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Trey Rainey has got the better of the ground game so far. Hughes throwing shots but Rainey is blocking nicely. Hughes missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Hughes trying to mount his opponent but Rainey defends it. Rainey lands a couple of sideways elbows.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rainey blocking the ground and pound attempt from Hughes. Rainey wants to get back to full guard. Rainey is still trying to improve position. Hughes thows a huge punch but Rainey dodges it nicely.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Rainey tries to land a sweep but no joy. Hughes stays in close to Rainey's body and controls the position.
