Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Trevor Doggerson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brian Wright! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Seu Braga and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wright blocks a head kick by Doggerson.
Wright shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Doggerson as he jumps to the side. Doggerson gets in close and instigates a clinch. Wright is trying to drag Doggerson to the mat but Doggerson just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Wright comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
It looks like Trevor Doggerson has been cut. Wright tries to pull guard but Doggerson holds him up against the cage and eventually Wright drops back down to his feet.
Trevor Doggerson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brian Wright. Wright tries for a takedown but Doggerson manages to get underhooks.
Doggerson breaks from the clinch.
Doggerson closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Doggerson goes for a takedown in the clinch but Wright prevents it.
Doggerson is trying to drag Wright to the mat but Wright just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Wright lands a body shot in the clinch.
Wright fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Wright has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Doggerson uses from the top position. Doggerson wanted to stand there but Wright had control of the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wright trying to control the position.
Doggerson tries to stand but Wright is controlling from the bottom. Doggerson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Wright has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Doggerson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Wright pulls Doggerson in close to his closed guard and prevents Doggerson from doing any damage or advancing position. Doggerson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Wright is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Wright throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wright looks gassed! Wright working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Doggerson has passed into half guard!
Doggerson wants to stand but Wright has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. Wright looking for submissions off his back. Doggerson trying to control from half guard but Wright is working away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Doggerson tries to stand but his arm is trapped. Wright trying to control from the bottom.
Wright might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Doggerson kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Wright strikes from the bottom but Doggerson uses the opportunity to move to side control.
Wright can't do much from the bottom here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Wright looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Doggerson is fending him off so far but Wright persists. Nope, Doggerson circles away and we're back to standing. Trevor Doggerson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Doggerson pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Doggerson lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Wright shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Doggerson moves into the clinch. Wright tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Doggerson just stands there and leans against the cage. Doggerson lands a left hand.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Doggerson jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Wright walks away with a smile on his face. Doggerson gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Doggerson tries to clinch up but Wright circles away and keeps his distance. Wright moves into the clinch successfully.
Doggerson prevents Wright from breaking the clinch. Wright tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Doggerson smiles and moves away.
Doggerson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Wright circles away quickly and effectively. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Trevor Doggerson will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Trevor Doggerson's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Doggerson misses with an uppercut. Wright saw that one coming. Wright changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Doggerson tries to avoid it but Wright manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Doggerson to the ground. Doggerson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Wright fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Wright tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Doggerson swivels and escapes. Trevor Doggerson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brian Wright. Wright takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Wright. Doggerson closes the distance and clinches. Doggerson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Wright throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Doggerson tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Wright counters with a takedown into side control. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Wright trying to control the position but Doggerson is working away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Doggerson gets back to half guard. Wright sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Doggerson defending well though. Wright is trying to control the action in half guard but Doggerson is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Doggerson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Wright on the ground. Doggerson looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Wright is looking to take a break and control but Doggerson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Doggerson circles away from the clinch attempt and Wright takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wright misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Wright moves out of range of the body kick from Doggerson.
Doggerson looks to clinch and Wright counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Doggerson! Doggerson is squirming around, avoiding Wright's attempts to control the action. Wright is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Doggerson can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Doggerson really wants to buck Wright off and get back to his feet. Wright trying to control but Doggerson is having none of it.

Doggerson is trying desperately to improve position. Wright won't let Doggerson get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now. Doggerson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Doggerson tries to get out of the position. Wright with shots to the head and body - Doggerson looks very uncomfortable down there. Wright is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Wright extends the arm and Doggerson is forced to tap!
