The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Chorao bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Sullivan is looking to regain half guard here but Chorao keeps moving and retains side control.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sullivan sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Sullivan looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
The fighters are battling for position here. Sullivan manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Sullivan is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sullivan is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Sullivan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Chorao with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Sullivan has his foot on Chorao's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Chorao works his way back into a safe position though.
Chorao controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Chorao is in close to Sullivan's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Sullivan controls Chorao momentarily but Chorao frees himself.
Chorao thows a big elbow that misses.

Chorao wants to stand but Sullivan is controlling his posture from full guard.

Sullivan looking for subs off his back but Chorao has passed one foot through into half guard.

Sullivan looks gassed!

Chorao is thwarting Sullivan's attempts to control the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Sullivan looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Chorao looks like he's trying to stand up.
Sullivan seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Chorao does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Sullivan is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Chorao!

Sullivan is going olschool here, as he tries to force Chorao to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Chorao shrugs it off.
Chorao tries to hold on but Sullivan postures up.
Chorao is squirming around, avoiding Sullivan's attempts to control the action.
Chorao wants to control but Sullivan is having none of it.
Sullivan can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Chorao is looking to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sullivan looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Chorao!
Chorao tries to lock up and control but Sullivan gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Sullivan scoring with strikes but Chorao is staying in there.

Sullivan moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Chorao has worked his arm free - good work by Chorao!
Chorao seems a little lost for a moment, as Sullivan dominates the positioning.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Chorao on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
The strikes coming from Sullivan are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Sullivan is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Chorao looks calm but he's in trouble here. Sullivan gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Chorao is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Sullivan lets go of the hold and Chorao can pop his arm back in it's socket.
