Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jerry Haze (ranked 433 p4p, 52 weight class) and Sam Quint (ranked 523 p4p, 61 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
26 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jerry Haze! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
29 - 12 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sam Quint! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Haze swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Haze uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Quint. Haze doesn't succeed with the takedown and Quint counters with a left to the body. Haze staying out of range there. It looked like Haze wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Quint throws a lazy uppercut
and Haze counters with a nice uppercut. Haze misses with a straight right. Haze dives in for a single leg takedown but Quint sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Quint flicks out a counter leg kick but Haze steps away. Quint uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Haze. It seemed like Quint was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Haze with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Haze jabs Quint right on the nose. Quint blinks but takes it well. Nice cross by Haze. A leg kick checked by Haze. Quint lands with a cross. Haze misses with a low kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Haze dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Quint. That did some damage! Quint waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Haze. A head kick by Haze misses and Quint counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Quint takes a body punch but keeps moving. Haze lands with an overhand left. Haze misses with a head kick.
Haze punishes Quint's body with a nice straight punch. Quint lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Quint throws out a powerful jab. Haze misses with a body shot.
It seemed like Quint was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Haze thows a left - swing and a miss! Haze bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Quint's head. Sam Quint is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Quint looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Good exchange - Haze coming out on top. Haze throws a nice inside leg kick. Haze closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Haze lands in his opponent's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Quint wants to sweep here but Haze controlling him for the moment. Haze throwing strikes from guard but Quint blocks nicely. Haze working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Quint preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Quint working a defensive guard here.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Quint has control of Haze's left arm, preventing Haze from doing any damage. Haze throwing strikes but missing. Haze keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Quint's head. Quint keeping full guard, as Haze tries to pass. Haze working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Haze throws an elbow that misses. Quint uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Haze's guard. Nice move by Quint! Haze is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Quint slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Haze tries to land a sweep but no joy. Quint is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Quint trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jerry Haze dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Haze throws a body kick that misses. It seemed like Quint was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Haze throws the kick towards the body but Quint avoids it. Haze misses with a kick to the body and Quint counters with a leg kick. Haze jabs Quint right on the nose. Quint blinks but takes it well. Haze lands a two punch combo.
An inside leg kick from Haze misses. Quint misses with a looping left. Quint misses with an uppercut. Haze tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Quint defends well and Haze ends up having to push Quint into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Quint is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

and Haze takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Haze moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Haze thows a left - swing and a miss! Quint looks like he wants to counter punch here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Quint throws a hook but Haze blocks it. Haze lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Haze misses with the body kick and Quint counters with a nice body shot. Quint throws a quick inside leg kick. Haze throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. Haze fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Haze rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Quint moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Jerry Haze seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Quint keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Quint! But no joy. Haze misses the shot to the body. Quint only half commits to the counter leg kick. A right-left combo lands from Quint. Haze swings for the body but Quint moves out of range.
Haze is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Quint can do to turn this around? The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Quint looks for the body kick but Haze saw that one coming.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Haze ducks under a wild hook from Quint. Haze ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Quint moves away. Quint let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Quint connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Haze's hands. Quint swings away with a body shot that misses
and Haze counters with a body kick that stops Quint in his tracks momentarily. Quint has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Haze. Haze takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Haze scores with a sloppy right hand. Quint should have avoided that one. A swing and a miss from Haze. Haze throws a sloppy head kick and Quint moves out of range easily. Quint works Haze's body with a nice hook. Haze is looking to clinch but Quint is avoiding it.
Nice defenses there by Haze. Quint dips to his left and cracks Haze with an uppercut!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Quint walks into a straight right hand from Haze. Quint shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Haze connects with a leg kick. Quint looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Haze throws a lazy head kick and Quint counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Quint on the wrong end of a nice jab. Quint throws an overhand right that lands on Haze's shoulder, as Haze tries to avoid the shot. Haze throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Quint on the side of the head. Quint lands with a good body shot. Haze fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Quint, pushing him back against the cage. Quint breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Haze misses with an uppercut. Quint saw that one coming. Quint feints a counter leg kick. Haze throws the left hand but Quint avoids the punch easily. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Quint throws a nice inside leg kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Haze throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Haze pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Jerry Haze is winning the standup battle so far. Haze throws a body shot but no joy. Quint appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick. Haze walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Haze.
Quint throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Haze moves away from the strike by Quint. Nice shot by Haze. Haze cracks Quint with a right hand to the side of the head. Nice shot lands for Haze. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Nice body punch from Haze. Haze shoots in and gets a takedown into Quint's guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jerry Haze dominated that second round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Haze checks a low kick from Quint. Sam Quint has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Quint throws a nice looking combination but Haze bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. A solid body kick from Haze. Haze looks for the body kick but Quint saw that one coming. Quint moves out of range as Haze throws a body kick.
Quint jabs Haze right on the nose. Haze blinks but takes it well. Haze scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. A shot to the liver by Quint. Beautiful body shot. Haze lands with a nice body punch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Haze takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Haze tries to score a power double leg takedown but Quint sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Haze somewhat. It seemed like Quint was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Quint throws a jab but it's blocked by Haze. Quint lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
No joy there for Haze, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Quint steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Haze. That one must have hurt. Haze swings away with a body shot that misses
and Quint counters with a lovely straight right hand! Haze scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Haze scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Quint just misses with a punch to the body.
Haze connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Haze throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Quint throws the left hand but Haze avoids the punch easily. Haze lands with a good body shot. Quint avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Quint throws a leg kick which misses Haze's front leg but catches the back leg as Haze tries to avoid it. Haze throws the kick towards the body but Quint avoids it. A little jabbing left from Quint on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Quint keeps the fight on the outside. Haze dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Quint. That did some damage! Haze looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Quint replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Haze blocks it well. Quint takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Haze fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Haze misses with an attempted mid kick.
Haze misses the body punch and Quint counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Jerry Haze is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Excellent takedown into side control there by Haze. Quint regains half guard, as Haze was trying to land strikes. Quint is trying to get back to full guard. Haze looks to land a strike but Quint avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Quint keeping moving, preventing Haze from controlling successfully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Quint wants to sweep but no luck. Quint controlling the position. Haze preventing the sweep. Haze throws a big elbow that misses. Quint looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Haze is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Quint is trying to control the position but Haze postures up. Haze not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Quint trying to keep a closed guard but Haze is proving a slippery customer.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jerry Haze. Well Haze has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
