The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Excellent takedown into side control there by Pereira.
You can see the frustration on Skywalker's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Skywalker misses with an elbow from the bottom.
Skywalker manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Skywalker has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pereira wants to take a breather but Skywalker is having none of it.
Pereira tries to pass to full mount but Skywalker defends it.
Pereira is keen to just control but Skywalker is a slippery customer.

Skywalker moves into full guard.
Skywalker has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pereira can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Skywalker looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Skywalker is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Skywalker not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Pereira got a little sloppy there for a moment and Skywalker has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Pereira has managed to get both his arms back between Skywalker's legs - danger averted.
Skywalker striking off his back but it's not causing Pereira any problems.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Skywalker is looking to control Pereira's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Skywalker avoid being mounted?

Pereira is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Skywalker sees it coming and defends easily.
Pereira is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Skywalker!
Skywalker is desperately trying to improve his position but Pereira has a good base and remains in mount.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Pereira takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Pereira's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

A close round but Jonathan Pereira will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Pereira looking to score a takedown here. Skywalker is defending well but Pereira drives through and ends up in Skywalker's guard.
Pereira has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Pereira trying to control the position from guard on top but Skywalker is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've been informed that Pereira has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Skywalker pushes a forearm under Pereira's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Pereira is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
