Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Zapi Zap (ranked 8826 p4p, 0 weight class) and Richard Hornshea (ranked 6213 p4p, 0 weight class). The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Zapi Zap!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Richard Hornshea!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hornshea throws a head kick that misses.
Zap is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Hornshea.

and Zap counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Hornshea!

Hornshea is trying to get back to his feet.
Zap tries to stand but Hornshea is controlling his head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hornshea takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Zap creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Zap is working Hornshea over with some ground and pound from side control.

Zap tries for a kimura but Hornshea is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hornshea throws a sloppy head kick

and Zap counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Zap stands and throws Hornshea's legs to the side, diving into side control.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Zap looks up at the clock and then as Hornshea takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Zap smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Hornshea tries to escape but Zap is in control.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

Zap has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Hornshea!
Hornshea is breathing heavily.
Zap tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Zapi Zap overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Zap lands a couple of good shots and Hornshea has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Zap controls the action.
Hornshea is taking damage to the body and head.

Hornshea is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Zap lands a shot to the head.

Zap is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Hornshea defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Zap seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Hornshea for as long as he can get away with.
Zap connects with a big shot to the side of Hornshea's head.
Zap has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Hornshea's body.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Hornshea is having to fend off submission attempts from Zap, who is looking to sink in the choke. Zap doesn't have the hooks in though and Hornshea manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Hornshea is looking to get back to his feet here but Zap is keeping cool and he's managed to take Hornshea's back.

Zap has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Hornshea has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Zap is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Hornshea has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Zap keeps control of the position easily here as Hornshea tries to buck him off.
Hornshea is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Zap is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.

Zap looking to break Hornshea's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Hornshea remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Zap will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

What can Hornshea do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Zap gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Zap lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Hornshea hold on?!

Zapi Zap showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Zap, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
