PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bob Fury (ranked 636 p4p, 27 weight class) and David Tua (ranked 2807 p4p, 90 weight class). Fury comes to the cage accompanied by J Dilla - Time: The Donut of the Heart. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, David Tua! The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Santiago Holmes and Peter Branson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Excellent takedown into side control there by Fury. Tua is not content to let Fury control the position. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Tua tries to improve position but can't. Fury trying to control the action but Tua is working from the bottom. Fury is trying to get an arm triangle but Tua is defending well. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Fury tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Fury tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Fury has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
That's one minute gone in the round. Fury works to advance to full mount. Tua defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Tua defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Fury. Fury is looking to work his way around to Tua's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position. Tua really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fury. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Fury is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Fury!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Bob Fury! A relieved looking Bob Fury thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
