Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dim Mir! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jakare Desouza! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Chris Downing and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mir wants to clinch. Nice combo by Mir! Oh, that's hurt him - Desouza falls to the canvas and Mir follows him into side control. Mir trying to control the position but Desouza is working away. Desouza is looking for a sweep. You can see the frustration on Desouza's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Mir wants to stand but Desouza is controlling his arm. Mir is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Desouza will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Mir scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Mir closes the distance and lands a one-two. Desouza misses with a takedown attempt - Mir sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Mir looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Mir throws a low kick but Desouza avoids it. Mir lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Desouza circles away quickly and effectively. Desouza shoots for a takedown but Mir saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Mir throws a right and a left that both miss. Mir tries to bum rush Desouza with a series of wild strikes but Desouza uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Mir lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Mir comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Desouza tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Mir swivels and escapes. Dim Mir has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jakare Desouza. Desouza has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Desouza is rocked! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Mir throws a nice looking combination but Desouza bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Mir looks to land a combination but Desouza avoids it well. Mir lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Desouza sprawling to the canvas. Mir follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Desouza hang on? Desouza is still in real trouble! Can Mir finish him? Mir is keen to just control but Desouza is a slippery customer. Desouza seems to have recovered his senses. Desouza is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. Desouza looking for submissions off his back. Desouza looks gassed! Desouza is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mir is keen to just control but Desouza is a slippery customer. Mir wants to stand but Desouza has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. Desouza is trying to control but can't.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Desouza feints and as Mir raises his hands in defense, Desouza changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Mir is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Desouza trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Mir is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Desouza is controlling him.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Desouza is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Desouza is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Mir is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Desouza is standing up over Mir. Mir looks to escape but Desouza dives into side control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Desouza wants to control but Mir is keeping him busy. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dim Mir dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Desouza scores with a takedown into Mir's guard. Mir wants to stand but Desouza is controlling the position. Desouza trying to control the position from guard on top but Mir is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Mir wants to stand up but Desouza is controlling him. Desouza postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Mir is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Desouza, into his guard. Mir knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Desouza on the ground. Desouza is breathing heavily. Mir is pushing down on Desouza's leg trying to pass to half guard. Desouza is fighting to maintain full guard but Mir has managed to sneak the leg through.

Desouza is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Mir's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Mir's back! Mir looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands. Desouza looking for the choke from the back. Mir turns into Desouza and is now in his guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Desouza is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Jakare Desouza seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mir wants to land a leg kick but Desouza is out of range. Desouza takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Mir fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Desouza changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mir tries to avoid it but Desouza manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mir to the ground. Mir escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. A punch combination from Mir misses. Mir lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Mir lands a jab to Desouza's midsection. Mir throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Desouza fails with the takedown. Mir lands a lovely overhand right. Mir lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. The fight stays on the outside here - Mir looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Desouza decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Desouza is looking to take a break and control but Mir is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Mir tries to kick Desouza off but Desouza keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Desouza is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Mir defends it well. Desouza is tying to control. Mir wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Mir is trying to stand back up but Desouza is controlling him
Mir trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Dim Mir will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Desouza has a takedown stuffed. Mir misses with a two punch combination.
Desouza shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Mir is trying to get back to his feet but can't. Desouza controlling from mount. Desouza working for a guillotine from mount but Mir is in no mood to give up. Desouza has control of Mir's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Mir regains control of the situation pretty easily.

That's one minute gone in the round. Mir is squirming around, avoiding Desouza's attempts to control the action. Mir is trying to stand. Desouza trying to control but Mir is having none of it. Mir's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Mir wants to control but Desouza is having none of it. Mir is looking to get to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Desouza swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Mir is now in Desouza's guard. A big mistake from Desouza there, giving up the dominant position! Desouza keeping moving, preventing Mir from controlling successfully. Mir wanted to stand there but Desouza had control of the position. Desouza looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Mir passes into half guard.
Desouza is looking for a sweep. Mir is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Desouza is not content to let Mir control the position. Dim Mir is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Mir wants to get back to his feet.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Desouza misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Mir lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Desouza shoots in looking for a takedown. Mir tries to sprawl out of it but Desouza keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Mir manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Dim Mir has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jakare Desouza. Desouza swats away the attempt to clinch by Mir. Desouza looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mir is fending him off so far but Desouza persists. Nope, Mir circles away and we're back to standing. Jakare Desouza has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Desouza swats away the attempt to clinch by Mir. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Mir!

And that's the end of the fight! Dim Mir showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Mir, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
