Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Thad Lee (ranked 25267 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derrick Vernon (ranked 8003 p4p, 0 weight class). Derrick Vernon has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Thad Lee's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Thad Lee! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Derrick Vernon! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Robert Douchet and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! No luck with that takedown attempt from Lee. Vernon looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Lee misses with a takedown attempt - Vernon sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Lee shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Vernon's guard. Lee keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Vernon's head. Lee cracks Vernon with a solid left hand. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lee postures up in Vernon's guard and throws a big left but Vernon blocks it. Lee's corner is telling him to maintain position. Lee missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vernon managing to control the position. Vernon avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lee loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Lee throws a big right hand that misses.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Lee changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Vernon tries to avoid it but Lee manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Vernon to the ground. Vernon escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Thad Lee. That's going to take a lot out of him. Vernon gets caught flat footed, as Lee shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Vernon is wriggling around but Lee manages to pass to half guard.
Lee looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Vernon tries to lock up and control but Lee gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Lee pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Lee landing strikes from the mount. Lee unloading with bombs! Lee putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Lee working Vernon over with strikes here. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Vernon can't escape the position.
Vernon wants to control but Lee is having none of it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Thad Lee dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Lee feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Vernon is wriggling around but Lee manages to pass to half guard.

We've been informed that Vernon has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Lee is working for a submission of some sort.

Lee missing with the ground and pound from half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lee thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Vernon's head. Lee throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Lee thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lee landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Lee sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Vernon defending well though. Lee working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Vernon wants to improve his position but Lee is controlling well.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Lee is defended easily by Vernon. Vernon raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick. Vernon closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Lee's guard. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Vernon wanted to stand there but Lee had control of the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Thad Lee dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Lee fails to land the takedown. Lee looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Vernon is fending him off so far but Lee persists. Nope, Vernon circles away and we're back to standing. Vernon gets the takedown into side control. Lee sneaks out the side door and pushes Vernon away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. Vernon clinches up with Lee and pushes him back against the cage. Lee fails to pull the fight into his guard.

That's one minute gone in the round. Vernon putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Lee in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Lee is working for takedown but Vernon is calmly controlling the position for now. Lee can't get the takedown.

Lee tries for a takedown but Vernon circles away easily and Vernon counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Vernon. Lee escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Vernon stuffs the takedown. Vernon drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Lee defends it well. Vernon misses with a wild combination.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vernon keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Lee avoids a punch combination nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Vernon takes a swing at Lee's ribcage but misses. A momentary lapse in concentration from Lee enables Vernon to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Lee manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Vernon is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Lee looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Vernon stays in close to Lee's body and controls the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Vernon throwing strikes from guard but Lee blocks nicely. Vernon being controlled here momentarily. Lee is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Vernon defends well. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Vernon postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
And that's the end of the fight! Derrick Vernon comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Lee has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
