PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gibki Vlad (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Builder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are James Atkins, James Ackerman and Colin Fotheringham.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Builder is looking to clinch but Vlad is avoiding it.

Builder has taken the fight to the clinch.

Builder's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Builder looks to land a body kick but Vlad moved away.
Builder pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Builder tries for a takedown but Vlad sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Vlad fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Builder sprawls well initially but Vlad persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Builder is staying active underneath Vlad, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Builder wants to control but Vlad is keeping busy.

Vlad is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Builder doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Vlad.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Vlad wants to take Builder's back here but Builder is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.

Vlad is going olschool here, as he tries to force Builder to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Builder shrugs it off.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Gibki Vlad just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Builder looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

Builder closes the distance and clinches.
Vlad wants a takedown but no success here.
Builder fails to pull guard.

Builder pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Builder tries to clinch but Vlad moves out of range.

Builder wants to pass the guard but Vlad is keeping the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vlad manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Builder manages to get himself to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Gibki Vlad will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Builder tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Vlad paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Vlad.
Builder really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Vlad. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Vlad slows the pace down.

Vlad is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Builder is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Builder stops Vlad from passing to mount.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Gibki Vlad just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Builder feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Vlad bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Builder's guard.

Vlad manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Builder manages to get himself to full guard.

Builder can't keep his opponent in guard - Vlad advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Vlad seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Vlad frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Builder is trying desperately to improve position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gibki Vlad dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Builder is trying to drag Vlad to the mat but Vlad just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Builder has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Vlad regains guard immediately.
Builder must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Vlad has Builder pulled in close to control his posture.

Builder is posturing up here but Vlad has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Builder tries to roll out but it's too tight and Builder has to tap! Slick submission there by Vlad!
