Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Volya Nikolaev (ranked 276 p4p, 35 weight class) and Dag Daghammar (ranked 567 p4p, 62 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Nikolaev might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Fever . Daghammar has chosen Just like that - Dregen as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
36 - 27 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Volya Nikolaev! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
20 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dag Daghammar! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nikolaev shoots and misses and Daghammar counters with a lovely shot to the body. Nikolaev looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Daghammar is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Daghammar lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Nikolaev looking for submissions off his back. Daghammar performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Nikolaev is looking to improve his position.
Well, if Daghammar is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Daghammar wants to lay and pray for a moment but Nikolaev keeps working. Nikolaev is trying to maintain the position but Daghammar is very close to passing his half guard. Nikolaev might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Daghammar throwing shots but Nikolaev is blocking nicely. Nikolaev is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at St Petersburg MMA Gym, so we'll see if he gets out of it. Nikolaev tries to get to full guard but Daghammar has control of the leg. Daghammar passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Nikolaev! Nikolaev is working to get back to half guard.

Nikolaev tries to hold on but Daghammar pushes him away. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Daghammar looking to control and managing it successfully. Daghammar looking to control but Nikolaev is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nikolaev bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Daghammar wants to stand up but Nikolaev is controlling him. Daghammar is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Nikolaev stopping the sweep attempt from Daghammar. Nikolaev with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Nikolaev slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Nikolaev trying to control but Daghammar is working from the bottom.

Nikolaev drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Daghammar manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Nikolaev has Daghammar in his guard. Daghammar looking to control the position here, rather than advance. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nikolaev closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Daghammar quickly recovers to half guard. Nikolaev thows a huge punch but Daghammar dodges it nicely.
Nikolaev thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Daghammar's head. Nikolaev working over Daghammar with some ground and pound. Daghammar looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Nikolaev is looking for a kimura but Daghammar is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Nikolaev to get the leverage. Daghammar is looking to control Nikolaev's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Daghammar avoid being mounted? We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dag Daghammar has got the better of the ground game so far. Daghammar keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Nikolaev is nestled in close to Daghammar, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Nikolaev throwing shots but Daghammar is blocking nicely. Daghammar is not content to let Nikolaev control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Daghammar wants to control but Nikolaev is keeping busy and won't allow it. Nikolaev sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Daghammar defending well though. Nikolaev tries to free his leg and advance position but Daghammar is retaining full guard. Nikolaev postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Volya Nikolaev dominated that second round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Daghammar takes one on the button. Nikolaev stalks Daghammar and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Daghammar's face. Daghammar staggers backwards, shaken. No luck with that takedown attempt from Nikolaev. Nikolaev misses with a looping right. A countering left hand to the body from Daghammar misses. Daghammar staying out of range there. Nikolaev misses with a hook
and Nikolaev takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Daghammar takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Nikolaev lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Nikolaev fails with the takedown and Daghammar counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Nikolaev uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Nikolaev decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Nikolaev connects with a nice short shot to Daghammar's temple.

Nikolaev thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Daghammar avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Nikolaev. Nikolaev looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Nikolaev sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Daghammar defending well though. Nikolaev missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Nikolaev working the head and body with strikes. Daghammar keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Nice strikes from Nikolaev there. Daghammar blocking the ground and pound attempt from Nikolaev. Nikolaev is keen to just control but Daghammar is a slippery customer. Nikolaev is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Daghammar is just riding it out for now. Nikolaev eventually gives up the hold. Nikolaev throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Nikolaev missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Nikolaev not landing any meaningful shots this time. Nikolaev prevents Daghammar from standing back up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Daghammar throws a jab when Nikolaev was well out of range. Nikolaev scores with a shot to the body.
Nikolaev lands with an uppercut that bounces Daghammar off the cage and back into range. Nikolaev shoots in and drives through. Daghammar sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Volya Nikolaev. That's going to take a lot out of him. Daghammar swings for the body but Nikolaev moves out of range.
Daghammar darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Daghammar clinches up with Nikolaev and pushes him back against the cage. Nikolaev has clasped his hands together around Daghammar's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Nikolaev fails to land a wild elbow strike.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Volya Nikolaev! A very excited looking Volya Nikolaev rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
