PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mike Child (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Roberts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Roberts has chosen Vet as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The key to victory for Mike Child has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mike Child!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Robert Roberts!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Winston Howard and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A swing and a miss from Roberts.
Child tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Roberts paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Child shoots for a takedown but Roberts saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Child shoots in looking for a takedown. Roberts tries to sprawl out of it but Child keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Roberts manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Child shoots in for a double leg but Roberts sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mike Child. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Roberts must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Child wants to sweep but no luck.

Roberts fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Child to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Child looks to clinch but Roberts throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Child taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:51 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Robert Roberts!
