PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Fear (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Rogers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Steve Rogers will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kevin Fear!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Steve Rogers!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Reed Andrews and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rogers throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Fear throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Rogers shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Fear as he jumps to the side.

Rogers feints and as Fear raises his hands in defense, Rogers changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Fear on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Fear tries to get out of the position.

Fear looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Rogers wants to control from the top but Fear keeps moving.
Rogers lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Rogers stops Fear from standing up.
Rogers lands a couple of elbows.
Rogers tries to free his leg and advance position but Fear is retaining full guard.
Rogers sitting in guard here, content to control.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Rogers working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Fear's head.
Fear might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fear not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Rogers is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Fear is looking to sweep but instead, Rogers has passed into half guard.
Rogers tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Fear.
Rogers missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Fear wants to get back to full guard.

Fear is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Rogers thows a huge punch but Fear dodges it nicely.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Fear avoids a punch combination nicely.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Rogers throws a right hand that Fear ducks under and follows up with a left that Fear also avoids with ease.

Fear bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Rogers sneaks back into half guard.
Fear is breathing heavily.
Rogers works his way to full guard. Good work.
Fear knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rogers on the ground.
Fear wants to stand but Rogers has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Fear has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Fear postures up in Rogers's guard and throws a big left but Rogers blocks it.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Rogers is on top in guard.

Rogers keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Fear's head.
Rogers has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Rogers postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Fear trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Fear can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Rogers controls the pace.

Fear wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Rogers is now in half guard.
Fear is looking for a sweep. Rogers is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Rogers lands strikes from half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Rogers connects with a nice short shot to Fear's temple.
Rogers wants to control but Fear is keeping him busy.
Rogers might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Fear kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Rogers looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Fear with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steve Rogers dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Rogers lands a huge takedown. Fear is out but the ref is slow to react and Rogers lands 3 more undefended punches before the fight is stopped. Brutal finish. Fear lies on the canvas for a good minute before the doctors bring him round. Good to see he's OK.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Steve Rogers!
