Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kristofer Miles! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Eddie Serrrano! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Alexandre Firmino and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Serrrano closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Miles did well to prevent Serrrano getting side control. Miles is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Serrrano trying to control from half guard but Miles is working away. Miles missing with punches from the bottom.
Serrrano is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Miles knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Serrrano on the ground. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Serrrano is trying to control the action in half guard but Miles is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Miles striking from the bottom. Miles tries to roll over but Serrrano keeps him under control. Miles punching from the bottom.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Serrrano darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Miles is trying to get back to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Serrrano content to control rather than advance. Miles is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Serrrano looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Serrrano is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Serrrano working the head and body with strikes. Serrrano wants to control but Miles is keeping him busy. Miles looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Serrrano prevents Miles from improving his position. Serrrano controlling the action here. Serrrano seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Miles is rocked! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Serrrano frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Oh Miles is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Serrrano looking to isolate an arm here. Miles doesn't see it coming and as Serrrano extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Serrrano!
