Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Aleksey Borodin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lucio Francisco Carmo! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Robert Douchet and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Borodin loads up on a big right hand but Carmo slips the punch. Carmo throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Borodin swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Carmo tries to bum rush Borodin with a series of wild strikes but Borodin uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Borodin throws a hook but Carmo avoids it easily. Borodin gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Carmo trying to control the position from guard on top but Borodin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Borodin is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Carmo advances to half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Borodin is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Carmo's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Carmo's back! Borodin is looking to get the fight back to the feet. Carmo can't escape the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carmo wants to control his opponent's hands but Borodin gets his hands free. Borodin controls the position. Despite having Carmo's back, Borodin says stuff this ground business - let's go for a knockout! Carmo seems baffled but is happy to be out of the difficult position!
Borodin throws a lazy right hand but Carmo sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Carmo drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Borodin defends it well. Carmo slips a jab from Borodin. Borodin defending well as Carmo loads up on a big left hand. Aleksey Borodin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Carmo throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Borodin counters with a straight right hand.
It looks like Lucio Francisco Carmo has been cut. Borodin connects with a single shot there. Carmo misses with a looping left. Carmo misses with a series of wild punches.
Borodin misses with an uppercut.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Borodin scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Borodin looks to throw the jab but Carmo is out of range. Borodin throws a hook but Carmo blocks it. Carmo is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Aleksey Borodin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Carmo drops his hands momentarily and Borodin takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Borodin throws an overhand right that drops Carmo like a sack of potatoes! Borodin dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!
