Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Luciano Vargas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Zhen Chang!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vargas looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Chang kicks off Vargas and gets to his feet.
Vargas dives in for a single leg takedown but Chang sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Chang feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Vargas is looking to stand back up but Chang counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Vargas.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Chang is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Chang is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Vargas defends it well.

Chang looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Chang wants to take a breather but Vargas is having none of it.
Vargas avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Chang.

Chang is working for a kimura but Vargas is defending it quite comfortably.
Vargas trying to control but Chang postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Chang drops an elbow to the side of Vargas's head.
Vargas trying to hold on to Chang's head to control him but Chang postures up.

Chang is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Chang passes to side control.
Vargas struggling a bit here.
Chang trying to control the action but Vargas is working from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Chang tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Vargas reaches up around Chang's neck trying to control. But Chang takes advantage instantly and he's locked on an arm triangle! Big trouble for Vargas! Oh that looks nasty! A human being's head is not meant to turn that color! Vargas is out! He's gone limp! The ref steps in to break the fighters up and Chang celebrates the victory with the fans!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Zhen Chang!
Zhen Chang was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
