Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Greg Coleman (ranked 312 p4p, 45 weight class) and Cam Newton (ranked 371 p4p, 56 weight class). Coleman comes to the cage accompanied by I Mother Earth - Not Quite Sonic. Newton has chosen Superman as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Coleman defending well as Newton loads up on a big left hand.
Greg Coleman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Coleman throws a hook but Newton blocks it.
Newton looks like he wants to counter punch here.

Coleman has managed to clinch.

Newton pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Coleman fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Newton manages to avoid it.
Newton has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Coleman is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Coleman throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Newton.

Coleman ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Newton lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!


It looks like Greg Coleman has been cut.
Newton takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Coleman scores with a crisp jab that stopped Newton in his tracks.

Newton throws a right and a left that Coleman avoids nicely.
Newton takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Coleman connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Coleman lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Newton swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.

Coleman quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.

Newton takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Coleman throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Newton counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Coleman thinking.
Newton avoids the head kick by Coleman.
Coleman scores with a decent looking hook.

Newton takes one on the chin but seems OK.


Newton is rocked!

Coleman moves into the clinch successfully.
Newton is still on wobbly legs! Can Coleman finish him?
Coleman throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Nice body punch from Coleman - that landed with a thud.
Newton looks winded!
Coleman lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Coleman throws a big uppercut that drops Newton! More strikes from Coleman and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Newton lies dazed against the cage as Coleman celebrates with his cornermen!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Greg Coleman!
Greg Coleman gave a mention to Zenith Nutrition (160q/225$) in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
