Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Raqaun Shaw (ranked 6301 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tom Dirk (ranked 6371 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are William Peck, Robert Douchet and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shaw gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Dirk to score an easy takedown into full guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Dirk stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shaw swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dirk passes Shaw's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Dirk has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Dirk is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Shaw to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Shaw shrugs it off.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shaw really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill...

Dirk is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Shaw can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Shaw wants to control but Dirk is having none of it.
Shaw takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Dirk is working for a guillotine from mount but Shaw frees his head quite easily.

Shaw could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Dirk has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Shaw's face.
Dirk looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Shaw tries to hold on but Dirk pushes him away.

Dirk tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Dirk takes a swing at Shaw's ribcage but misses.
Shaw uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Dirk.
Dirk bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Shaw is trying to get back to his feet.

Shaw knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dirk on the ground.
Dirk lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Shaw down.

Dirk advances nicely into full mount.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Dirk wants to finish this one by submission but Shaw is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Dirk.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Shaw is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Dirk.
Dirk is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Shaw knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Shaw for a finish.

Dirk is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Shaw defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Dirk is riding his opponent, not letting Shaw buck him off.

Dirk has one arm under Shaw 's neck. Shaw is controlling the other arm well. He's just looking to survive right now. Dirk manages to get his arm free though and Shaw is in a world of trouble! Dirk sinks in the hooks and squeezes! Shaw turns purple and then goes limp. The referee steps in to end the bout!
