PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hans Huber (ranked 144 p4p, 21 weight class) and Jason Rage (ranked 352 p4p, 50 weight class). Rage has chosen For Heavy Metal we will die! as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Hans Huber!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jason Rage!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rage throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Huber is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Rage.
Huber uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Rage.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Huber enables Rage to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Huber manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Rage working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Huber utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Huber manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Rage manages to get himself to full guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rage is looking for a sweep. Huber is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Rage working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Huber has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Rage has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Huber is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Rage.

Jason Rage showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Huber's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Well Rage has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Jason Rage decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
