PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Numbers Carter (ranked 25101 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phillip Hamilton (ranked 6289 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Phillip Hamilton was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Numbers Carter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Phillip Hamilton!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carter closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hamilton circles away.
Hamilton shoots in and drives through. Carter sprawls well.

Hamilton forces Carter back against the cage and clinches.
Carter has Hamilton pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Hamilton manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Hamilton dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Hamilton stalling the fight.
Carter is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Hamilton gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hamilton postures up in Carter's guard and throws a big left but Carter blocks it.
Hamilton tries to stand but Carter is controlling from the bottom.
Hamilton trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hamilton wanted to stand there but Carter had control of the position.
Hamilton controlling from the top position.
Hamilton wanted to stand there but Carter had control of the position.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Hamilton postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Hamilton is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Hamilton trying to stand up but can't free himself from Carter's guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Hamilton breaks from the clinch.

Hamilton has managed to clinch.
Carter is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Numbers Carter. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Hamilton's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Carter fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

A head kick misses from Hamilton.

Hamilton gets a clinch.

Hamilton has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Carter clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Carter is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hamilton looking for the choke but no joy.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Hamilton controlling the positon.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Carter is trying to break free.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Phillip Hamilton dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Hamilton moves out of range of the leg kick from Carter.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Hamilton. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Hamilton feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Hamilton wants to control from the top but Carter keeps moving.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hamilton is looking to work some ground and pound but Carter has wrist control.

Hamilton wants to pass the guard but Carter is keeping the position.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Hamilton postures up in Carter's guard and throws a big left but Carter blocks it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Hamilton will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Hamilton circles away from the clinch attempt.
Hamilton tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Hamilton fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Carter to the ground. Hamilton is now in Carter's guard.
Carter is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Hamilton dives into side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Hamilton wants to control but Carter is keeping him busy.

Hamilton is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Carter has escaped the position, nice work there.
Hamilton passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Carter!
Hamilton content just to control the position here.

Hamilton goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Carter turns into him and now he's in Hamilton's guard.
Carter lands a couple of elbows.
Hamilton controlling the position.
Carter throwing strikes but missing.
Hamilton has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Hamilton looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Hamilton has his foot on Carter's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Carter works his way back into a safe position though.

Hamilton is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Hamilton had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Carter defends it easily.
Hamilton is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Carter landing with the ground and pound.
Carter with a flurry of punches that miss.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hamilton looking to control.

Carter is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Hamilton has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Carter is looking to defend but Hamilton has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Carter! Hamilton pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Carter taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Phillip Hamilton!
