Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mario Jose Binay (ranked 4463 p4p, 0 weight class) and Duke Newell (ranked 3285 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

16 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Duke Newell! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Daniel Franklin and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Binay swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Newell lands a lovely overhand right. Binay slips a straight right by Newell. Binay walks into a jab. Newell dives in and grabs Binay's left leg, looking for a takedown. Binay pushes down on Newell's head and hops out. Binay misses with a head kick.
Binay lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Newell circles away quickly and effectively. Newell avoids the head kick by Binay.
Newell tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Binay stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Binay looks to throw the jab but Newell is out of range. Binay catches Newell with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Binay misses with a body kick. Newell changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Binay has been working on his boxing with his coaches at LOD: Legion's PIT Fight Club in the buildup to the fight. Newell tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Newell misses with a wild body shot. Binay fires out a quick counter leg kick but Newell just manages to avoid it.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Binay holds on to Newell around his waist, trying desperately to prevent any attacks. Newell wants to control the pace but Binay is squirming around nicely. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Newell tries to control but Binay wriggling away. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. That was a close round but I would say that Mario Jose Binay will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Newell shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Binay as he avoids it easily. Binay throws the left hand but Newell avoids the punch easily. Newell moves out of range of the leg kick from Binay. Mario Jose Binay is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Newell lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Binay throws a body punch but Newell moves out of range. Binay throws a jab but it's blocked by Newell. Binay is looking to wear down Newell with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Newell thows a left - swing and a miss! Binay throws a body kick despite being completely out of range so Newell counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Binay wants to hit a switch here but Newell passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Binay there! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Newell looking to control but Binay is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Binay really wants to buck Newell off and get back to his feet.

Binay is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Newell.
