Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Greg Lupul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Durrant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lupul comes into the arena with Strangled With A Halo, Pig Destroyer blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Greg Lupul! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, David Durrant! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Hirohito Nitta and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Durrant closes this distance looking for a takedown but Lupul circles away. Durrant shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Durrant wants to control but Lupul is keeping him busy. Lupul is trying to maintain the position but Durrant is very close to passing his half guard. Lupul wants to improve his position but Durrant is controlling well.
Durrant throwing shots but Lupul is blocking nicely. Durrant is trying to work for a kimura but Lupul is defending well.
Durrant is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Durrant is working for a submission of some sort.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lupul trying to control but Durrant postures up.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Lupul is looking to clinch but Durrant is avoiding it.
Lupul takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Lupul stuffs the takedown attempt from Durrant. Durrant gets slowly back to his feet. Greg Lupul is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Durrant closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Lupul is not content to let Durrant control the position. Lupul is trying to stand.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Durrant prevents Lupul from improving his position. Lupul is not content to let Durrant control the position. Durrant moves into full mount! Lupul won't be happy about that! Durrant moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Lupul has worked his arm free - good work by Lupul!

That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are battling for position here. Lupul manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Durrant wants to control from the top but Lupul keeps moving. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Durrant tries to free his leg and advance position but Lupul is retaining full guard. Lupul working for a triangle but Durrant defends it easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Durrant shoots in but no luck this time. Greg Lupul has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Durrant. No luck for Durrant with that takedown attempt. Durrant avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Durrant shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Durrant feints and as Lupul raises his hands in defense, Durrant changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Lupul wants to sweep but no luck. Lupul scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Lupul moves out of range of the strikes. Durrant drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Lupul is trying to control the position from the bottom.

David Durrant dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Lupul wants to clinch up but Durrant keeps it at a distance. Lupul tries to clinch there but Durrant circles away.
Durrant shoots in and bounces Lupul off the ropes to secure the takedown into guard. Durrant pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Lupul is keeping the position for now. Lupul looking to hit a scissor sweep but Durrant is one step ahead there. Durrant trying to control the position from guard on top but Lupul is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Durrant wants to pass the guard but Lupul is keeping the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lupul keeping moving, preventing Durrant from controlling successfully. Durrant looking to sit in guard and control but Lupul gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Lupul lands a couple of digs. Durrant is looking for a triangle but Lupul pushes his legs off easily.
Durrant has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lupul can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Durrant is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Durrant manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Lupul manages to get himself to full guard.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Lupul looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Durrant wanted to stand there but Lupul had control of the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Durrant trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Durrant drops back, looking for a kneebar! Lupul looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Lupul looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Lupul! Lupul has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. A head kick from Lupul lands but Durrant takes it in his stride. Durrant has a takedown stuffed. Durrant tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Lupul swivels and escapes. Lupul closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes. Lupul trying to land knees to the body.

Greg Lupul has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Durrant. Lupul landing some nice looking knees to the body.

That's four minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Nice elbow from Lupul. Lupul crunches a lovely knee into Durrant's ribcage. Lupul using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Durrant has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Durrant wants the takedown. Lupul is fighting it off but Durrant persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Lupul's guard against the ropes. Lupul is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Durrant drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Lupul dives on top into guard. Durrant trying to keep a closed guard but Lupul is proving a slippery customer.
Lupul decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Lupul tries to clinch up but Durrant circles away and keeps his distance. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Greg Lupul dominated that second round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
Durrant will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Durrant changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lupul tries to avoid it but Durrant manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lupul to the ground. Lupul escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. No joy there for Durrant, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
David Durrant seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. No luck for Durrant with that takedown attempt. Greg Lupul has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Durrant. Lupul tries to close the distance and clinch but Durrant swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Lupul scores with a one two! Durrant had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
It looks like David Durrant has been cut. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Lupul tries to clinch there but Durrant circles away.

Durrant looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Lupul throws a head kick but Durrant moves out of range.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. Lupul fails in his attempt to clinch. Greg Lupul is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Durrant scores a takedown into full mount! Lupul sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Lupul tries to land a sweep but no joy. Durrant wants to control from the top but Lupul keeps moving. Lupul lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Durrant! Lupul tries to control but Durrant wriggling away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Durrant tries to hold on but Lupul postures up. David Durrant has got the better of the ground game so far. Durrant is in all sorts of trouble here.

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Durrant is squirming around, avoiding Lupul's attempts to control the action. Durrant wants to control but Lupul is having none of it. Lupul controlling from the full mount. Durrant is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Durrant can't escape the position.
And that's the end of the fight! Greg Lupul showed his dominance in that final round. I think Lupul has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
