Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ken Shamrock !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Daniel Sainty!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sainty scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Shamrock misses with a straight left.
Sainty wants to counter the offense by Shamrock and move into the clinch position.

and Sainty counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
My spies in Crapollas Gym inform me that Sainty has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Sainty is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Shamrock has managed to free his arm - good work.
Sainty perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
It looks like Sainty might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Shamrock is in trouble now - Sainty has advanced to mount!

Sainty sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Shamrock knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sainty on the ground.
Shamrock can't escape the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Sainty sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Let's hope that Sainty has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Shamrock has given up his back. Will we see Sainty going for some submissions?

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Shamrock is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Sainty.

Sainty is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Shamrock has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Sainty has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Shamrock taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Sainty doesn't care though - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Daniel Sainty!
Daniel Sainty really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that IniTech Nutrition logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
