PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dmitri Zaitsev (ranked 88 p4p, 12 weight class) and Rocket Bob Frankels (ranked 318 p4p, 39 weight class). Frankels has chosen Dawn....Summer Solstice... as his entrance music. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zaitsev cracks the inside of Frankels's front leg.
Frankels shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

It looks like Rocket Bob Frankels has been cut.
Frankels has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
A big left from Zaitsev misses.
A swing and a miss from Zaitsev.
Despite the aggression on Frankels's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Frankels with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Zaitsev to score with a decent uppercut.
Zaitsev takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Frankels scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Zaitsev throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Frankels counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Frankels throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Zaitsev.
A little feinted left hand from Zaitsev on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Zaitsev misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Frankels dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Zaitsev throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Zaitsev throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Frankels takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Zaitsev closes the distance and clinches up with Frankels, looking for a takedown. Zaitsev pushes Frankels against the cage but Frankels circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Frankels connects with a high kick.
Zaitsev misses with a hook.
Frankels throws a body shot but no joy.
It looked like Zaitsev wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Jab, jab by Zaitsev - just one landing.
Zaitsev throws a hook to the side of Frankels's head but Frankels sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Zaitsev scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.

Dmitri Zaitsev seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Zaitsev has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Frankels.

Zaitsev scores with a decent looking hook.

That has opened up Rocket Bob Frankels's cut even more.
Zaitsev takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Zaitsev lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Zaitsev feints and then cracks Frankels's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Frankels down.
Frankels tries to score with a low kick but Zaitsev moves his leg out of the way.
Zaitsev misses with a right hand
and Frankels counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Zaitsev misses the jab.
Frankels with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Frankels throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Zaitsev takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Zaitsev is breathing heavily.
Frankels jabs Zaitsev to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Frankels throws a quick inside leg kick.

Zaitsev uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Frankels has time to react.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Zaitsev misses with a looping right.
A little jabbing left from Frankels on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Frankels moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Frankels is looking to land body kicks.
An attempted straight right counter from Zaitsev misses the target.
Zaitsev takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Zaitsev takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Frankels connects with a leg kick. Zaitsev looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Frankels drops Zaitsev with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Zaitsev looks back up at him and smiles so Frankels waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Zaitsev is rocked!
Frankels ducks down and throws a big overhand right - it lands flush on the jaw, knocking Zaitsev out cold! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Rocket Bob Frankels!
Rocket Bob Frankels is the new heavyweight champion!
A very excited looking Rocket Bob Frankels rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
