The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nigouera shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Podarov as he jumps to the side.
Podarov shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Podarov showed some decent athleticism there.
Nigouera actively working from the bottom here.
Podarov seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nigouera won't allow Podarov to pass to mount.
Nigouera is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Podarov pulls his head out easily.

Podarov has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Podarov fails to take his opponent's back.
Nigouera tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Nigouera stops Podarov from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Podarov swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Nigouera is now in Podarov's guard. A big mistake from Podarov there, giving up the dominant position!

Nigouera postures up in Podarov's guard and throws a big left but Podarov blocks it.

Nigouera throws an elbow that misses. Podarov uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Nigouera's guard. Nice move by Podarov!

Podarov pulls Nigouera in close to his closed guard and prevents Nigouera from doing any damage or advancing position.

Nigouera throws a strike but Podarov rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Nigouera is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Podarov has his hands clasped together but Nigouera extends and breaks Podarov's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Nigouera.
