Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Yosko Kimura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scaredy McScared (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Scaredy McScared has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Yosko Kimura's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Yosko Kimura!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Scaredy McScared!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Stewart Dunkirk and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kimura fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

McScared closes the distance and clinches.

McScared wants the takedown. Kimura is fighting it off but McScared persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Kimura's guard against the ropes.
Kimura has control of McScared's left arm, preventing McScared from doing any damage.
McScared postures up.
McScared trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
McScared throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Kimura is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Kimura pulls McScared in close to prevent any damage.
McScared throws a strike but Kimura rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
McScared manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Kimura manages to get himself to full guard.

McScared looking to sit in guard and control but Kimura gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

McScared working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kimura doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kimura manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

McScared looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
McScared wants to sweep here but Kimura controlling him for the moment.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

McScared is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Kimura rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but McScared moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Kimura tries to work over McScared's front leg with a kick but McScared checks it.
Horrible takedown by McScared or perhaps it was just good defense by Kimura which made him look bad.
Yosko Kimura has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Scaredy McScared.
Kimura scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
McScared tries to clinch up but Kimura circles away and keeps his distance.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Kimura manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
McScared is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Kimura shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and McScared counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Kimura!
Kimura tries to hold on but McScared pushes him away.
A nice elbow there by McScared.

McScared has hold of Kimura's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Kimura manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Kimura is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

McScared swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Kimura is now in McScared's guard. A big mistake from McScared there, giving up the dominant position!
McScared is breathing heavily.
Kimura trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Kimura works a leg free and moves into half guard.
McScared is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Kimura trying to control the pace.

McScared looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
McScared moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Kimura is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

McScared has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kimura can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

McScared isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Kimura stacks McScared on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Kimura!
McScared tries to buck Kimura off but Kimura is having none of it.
Kimura wants to control but McScared is keeping him busy.

Scaredy McScared showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Kimura stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McScared swivels though and keeps the full guard.

McScared wants to improve his position but instead Kimura has moved into half guard.
Kimura is taking a breather. McScared says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
McScared tries to roll over but Kimura keeps him under control.
McScared is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Kimura jumps into side control!
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
McScared is looking for a sweep.
McScared seems a little lost for a moment, as Kimura dominates the positioning.
Kimura's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
McScared tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kimura wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
McScared takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
McScared tries to improve position but can't.
Kimura tries to move to mount but McScared blocks the move with his legs.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Kimura throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and McScared counters with a nice double leg into side control. Kimura won't be happy with that.
Kimura wants to control but McScared postures up.

McScared goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Kimura has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for McScared but great work by Kimura.

McScared tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Kimura presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Kimura wants to lay and pray for a moment but McScared keeps working.

Kimura is really struggling to control McScared but he's trying to hold on to the position.
McScared is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

McScared is looking to take a break and control but Kimura is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
You can see the frustration on Kimura's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Kimura is not content to let McScared control the position.
Kimura can't do much from the bottom here.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Kimura decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
McScared wants to get back to full guard.
McScared moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Kimura has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Kimura wants to control from the top but McScared keeps moving.

McScared escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kimura gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

McScared has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kimura can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Kimura stands and throws McScared's legs to the side, diving into side control.

McScared is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
McScared tries to get to full guard but Kimura has control of the leg.
McScared is staying active underneath Kimura, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kimura is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because McScared is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
The fighters are battling for position here. McScared manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

McScared postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Kimura is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of McScared, into his guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Yosko Kimura.
I think McScared has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
