Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sebastian Reid (ranked 6248 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian Maples (ranked 6141 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sebastian Reid!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Brian Maples!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shirou Masuda and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reid throws a sloppy head kick and Maples moves out of range easily.
No joy there for Maples, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Maples shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Maples was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Reid throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Reid fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Maples sprawls well initially but Reid persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Still in half guard, Reid seems content to control.
Reid prevents Maples from standing back up.
Reid is taking a breather. Maples says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Maples has a hand on Reid's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Reid takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Reid scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Maples tries to hold on but Reid pushes him away.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Reid takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Maples tries to control Reid's body but Reid pushes him off. Maples squirms to his side and now Reid has his back!

Maples is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Reid slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Reid is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Maples is defending well though. Reid let's go of the attempt for now.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Reid's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Reid is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Maples has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Reid is riding his opponent, not letting Maples buck him off.

Reid changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Maples looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Maples is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Reid controls the position from side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Reid is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Maples is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Reid is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Maples's shoulder. That is not cool.
Reid is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Maples can do to turn this around?
Reid lands a few punches from side control.
Reid lands a nice forearm strike.

Reid is trying to get an arm triangle but Maples is defending well.

Maples tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Reid presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Maples's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Reid moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Maples has worked his arm free - good work by Maples!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Maples lands a really nice looking cross but Reid seems unphased.
Maples throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Reid on the side of the head.

Reid swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Maples looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Reid takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Reid crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Maples - the referee stops the clock and Reid gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Maples. Reid manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Reid changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Maples comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Reid walks into a straight right hand from Maples.
Maples tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Reid is able to avoid easily.

Maples moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Maples throws a big shot that misses.

Maples throws a hook but Reid avoids it easily.
Maples thuds a left hand into Reid's body.
Maples stuns Reid with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
A looping hook to the body misses from Maples. Reid does a little dance to reset his feet.
Reid throws a quick counter head kick but Maples was just out of range.

Maples changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Reid looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Reid explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Maples takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Maples closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Reid's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

and Reid counters with a left and a right that stings Maples.
Maples slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Reid rushes Maples and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Maples has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Maples misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Reid looking for a takedown.
Reid stalls.
Reid tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Maples just stands there and leans against the cage.

Reid is trying to drag Maples to the mat but Maples just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sebastian Reid. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Reid breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A head kick misses from Reid.
Reid moves forwards but Maples connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Maples dips to his left and cracks Reid with an uppercut!
Reid moves in looking to clinch but Maples pushes him off.
Maples scores with a jab. Reid acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Reid throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Maples tries a low kick but Reid avoids it.

Maples rushes Reid and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Reid breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Reid checks the leg kick.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Reid goes for a takedown attempt but Maples pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Reid walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Brian Maples has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Reid scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Sebastian Reid is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Maples lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.

And that's the end of the fight!
Brian Maples comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Reid has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
